Could someone plz post a small Step-by-Step tutorial for Debian-derived-Linux users on how to install .tar.gz packages..? I had requested our Moderator GNUrag... but he seemed a bit busy... Could someone else take over??? Tnx in advance...

Help me please... My Ubuntu crashed coz I tried to upgrade my GNOME with one of the mirrors GNUrag gave me and after that i restarted the system... On restart, I logged in as usual and nothing but the wallpaper was visible... :oops: I am unable to go into Ubuntu now... :sad: Please...

I suggest that GNUrag be made an admin of this section. So far he (and firewall, who is not too regular here) seems to be the most knowledgeable guys on the topic of Free and Open Source softwares. Digit Admins, please give a serious thought to the suggestion.
