conn

am using a dile up conn....so yday when my conn failed....tryed to conn using my phone.....and to my surprise..i heard the old dile tone tune....with in 3 sec..but when i dile from modem it takes 1-1.5 min..to connect...why???can i reduce this time?? also am using a HSP micro...
