i think the 1st one of the above 2 is a much better option.although slightly expensive than 18k, but the mobo has ati x 200 which can atleast play almost all games at min res.instead of cd-rw u can buy a dvd rom drive.
i hv aquired antec 500w smps. now too some times it hangs. but the diff is u can use ctrl alt del to get out of the hang. i was running serious sam 2 demo in 1024*768. and doom3 at 1024*768 high quality,

ati x300 is much better than gma 950.
see, ati also sells x300 as a low end gfx card too which says alot fr the integrated gpu.
i hv seen ur 1st msg. ya u might get 5000 fr ur machine.
look the pt is PSU that u hv in ur p3 machine wont b able 2 take the load of the new system.
so a new...
if ur dell has crashed then put the dell hdd as a slave in the other pc and retreive the data.
the worst that could hv happened during the crash was may b the data in ur os partition might b lost, the other partitions should b safe.
no probs in doin that.
1st procy mobo combinations-
AMD 64 3500+ ASUS a8n-e=15000approx
AMD 64 3200+ MSI rs482m2-il=11500aprox
the good part is the msi mobo has the best onboard gfx (ati x300) , but it doesnot give ne room fr overclocking :(
u can also go fr AMD 3200+ ASUS A8N-E=13000approx.but no onboard gfx...
u r playin all that with what graphics card?
don tell me that u r playin quake4 with on board graphics at 1280x960 +2AA. if that is the case u need a graphics update.
the card is def hot swappable, but u hv 2 open the back panel cover.
the other thing is installin software is much easier and faster by card reader as by bluetooth every thing comes in inbox 1st then gets installed in mem card. while card reader u can put it ne folder u want before u install...
dude , don go by ghz ratings a normally clocked amd 64 3200+ clocked at 1.9ghz ll thrash the hell of all celeron processors available including celeron d and is better than all single core processors of pentium till 3.0 ghz.
socket 939 amd processors r at least as future proof as intels.
coz...
na i dont think so that its a good change. 6800 plain is 1 of the worst cards in terms of price 2 performance ratio.
6600gt ll b able 2 play q4 easily.the worthy change frm 66oogt ll b 7 series. or at least 6800gt.
the best among these in performance is 6800gt go fr xfx .
u might also look at 6800gs -15k (leadtek) 6800gt-17-18k(xfx)
msi r generally priced higher than normal.
xfx6600gt-10k approx.
i had a acer travel mate with celeron 1.4ghz. the sevice is good. the quality of keys are just about k. but the prob was it had a front loading combo drive. i hated it.but the service is good and very much available across the country.no probs in 1yr that i kept it.
there is slight prob on the above config . pentium 3.0 wont b less than 7500 i think, so that leaves 2500 fr mobo , too less.
as vijay has said AMD 3200+ MSI482M2=11000. plus the board has on board x300 gpu the best onboard solution.+3k fr dvd rw,+2.5k fr ram(transcend).so u hv lots of money...
