I'd prefer a 14 inch version as I'll be carrying it around a lot. I saw the 14 inch version in the Vaio E series and its config is about the same(core i3 with HD3000) as the ones I'm considering except that the asus and dell ones also have usb 3.0
I'm buying a laptop and have narrowed it down to 2 choices. I'd like to know which is better:
1) Intel core i3 with HD 3000
2) Intel Dual Core B950 with NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M 1GB DDR3
The rest is same for the two laptops. I'll be using the laptop for college, programming, a bit of gaming.
Thanks, everyone, for the quick replies.
The only dealer in my city told me that biostar boards are good but after sales service is poor and he won't be able to help me if something goes wrong. So I'm going with an ASUS board that stretches my budget a little but should in turn last a little...
Is Biostar a good company? I've read some reviews that showed Biostar in poor light with regard to the quality of their products and after-sales service.
I have to upgrade my motherboard and processor within Rs. 10000.
I've shortlisted the following processors:
1) Core i3 530 Rs. 5850
2) Athlon II X3 425 Rs. 3700
3) Phenom II X2 555 Black edition Rs.5300
Which is better among 2) and...
Tried installing anti viruses on C and scanning but the moment a scan would begin the comp would restart.
So then I tried Avira's rescue CD, but that would get stuck while booting. After that I tried Kaspersky's rescue CD which worked perfectly except for the fact that it took 11 hrs to scan...
Will post as soon as scans are complete. In the meanwhile thanks, rhitwick, for all your help. I really appreciate the time and effort you spent in helping me.
How do I do a low-level format? Also, according to this site; *www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/geom/formatLow-c.html ; low level formatting isn't a good idea on modern drives.
How do I do a virus scan? Should I install the antiviruses on 'C' and then run them?
Sorry about that.
I took a pic of the screen after running chkdsk. Here's the link:

Today I couldn't access 'D' & 'E' in safe mode either. Running chkdsk in safe mode gave a message saying that the drive could not be locked, even when I tried the /x parameter. However I managed to run chkdsk in Recovery Console - It did not find any problems, it just stated the amount of free...
@rhitwick,
I can access the partitions in safe mode but not in command prompt(It says that 'D' does not have a recognized File system).

This morning, when I put the computer on I got the following screen(see pic) and when I restarted, everything was normal except that partitions 'D' and 'E' would not open. When I tried to open it, a message appeared saying that it needed to be formatted. Both the partitions were almost full. I...
