i haven't used mac os but isn't usb tethering is enabled from the mobile itself after connecting it to a usb port? any other internet connectivity option on the system need to be disabled from there.

The problem is USB tethering not supported on mac with an android mobile.

Weird, RNDIS is universal protocol, should be supported.
Why not use wifi Hotspot
