Hi Guys,

Has anybody tried to install win xp after windows server 2003? I have win server 2003 installed on my m/c and its running fine. But i want to install xp also as a dual boot os. It does not allow me to install xp from win server as win server is the latest os compared xp.

Is there any way to install xp after win sever 2003? I don't want to format and reinstall win server 2003 again.

Thanks and Regards,
Amit.

Simply boot using XP CD and install it on other partition. It'll overwrite 2003 boot loader and you'll not be able to boot into 2003.

No worries, boot using 2003 Setup CD, enter into recovery console and provide following commands:

Code:
fixboot
bootcfg /rebuild
It should work.

Oh...I did not know that it's that easy. I'll give thisa try and post back the problems I face if any.

Thanks Vishal and others for sharing this info.

Surprisingly I googled for this bud could not find any satisfactory results on this. May be I am googling inefficiently.

Regards,
Amit.

^^ Did you provide both commands? You have to provide "bootcfg /rebuild" too. It'll detect the installations and will ask you provide a label for them.
