2 days back I asked the LG warranty services team lead to share those Terms and Conditions where they have mentioned about this dead pixel count policy, since he told me "It's already mentioned in the terms and conditions". Now that person is not even attending call.
I am also still waiting to hear words from the showroom manager.

I bought for 58K + 7.8K extended warranty and dead pixel came within a week of usage. I am not sure now that if I fight for a replacement then next panel would not be this bad. And say I decide to keep this panel then what if this current panel is of bad quality and over period of time one by one more dead pixel start to appear, but below the threshold count.

imagine the nerve of these b@s**rds refusing to replace a defective panel on a 60k tv! 60k is definitely not cheap by any stretch of imagination.

Btw did you receive a new, sealed item in box,or did the retailer give you a tv that was on display at their store and was likely to have been used by them for quite some time?

Too bad the service industry for electronic goods is always the same story in India. This is why I am afraid of buying an expensive monitor or TV. Gone are the days when displays lasted for decades.

I got demo and placed the order next day over phone. It was new sealed box which installation guy opened in front of me. Not sure if they packed the display unit or from warehouse. The showroom did mention that they don't have this UP80 model in showroom so it will come to your place from warehouse. The showroom sales person have been constantly in touch, it's the showroom manager and warranty team lead who are rejecting this.
Today I need to find the warranty card in the TV box and read that carefully about dead pixels.

my samsung b2030 is still working to this day(thankfully),albeit it has developed a few dead pixels over time.

my friend's samsung 20 inch monitor which he purchased around 2014- 2015 died this year.

I have seen plenty of cheap aoc 15" monitors where i work and they are greatly abused by everyone-sometimes they are even wiped clean by the maintenance folks using a coarse cloth(yikes) and soap and water(a big no-no for LCDs)-despite that they have been working fine for ages and i dont remember spotting any dead pixels in the ones that i have used personally.

I wonder how these cheap displays are so durable whereas a 60k tv develops a dead pixel within days of purchase(And is likely to develop more over time).

Hi everyone!

I found the warranty card in TV box. Look at that point 16. It says dead pixels between 4 and 12. So minimum 5 dead pixels are needed to claim warranty.

Seems like I can only ask showroom people to take this back and give a replacement to me. Let's see.

It says 4-12 range depending on resolution. So might be 12 for 4K (or 8K)? Also bright and dark dots counted separately. So there can be 11 dark + 11 bright dots and no warranty on it? And why is it written monitor instead of TV?

Also i think if the dot is actually very noticeable then it might actually be like 4 pixels since the pixels are very small especially on a 4K screen but they will hide that fact.

I don't know why it's written as monitor but this document was inside TV. Similar document snapshot was shared by Warranty Team lead so I double checked with my warranty card. The lead also mentioned that it is 5 dead pixels for your TV, which has 4k resolution.
i spoke again to showroom personnel today and they mentioned that they have sent some email to area sales manager and waiting for their reply.

^it maybe hogwash....they are simply biding their time by feeding you all that bull$hit-in the end they will say that unfortunately we cant replace the tv as your request has been denied by lg sales manager (even though they probably never contacted him in the first place and only said such things to appease you).

if possible write to LG's Hq in korea a very strongly worded letter and demand an immediate repair/replacement of the tv,also spam them frequently on social media and see if it yields any results or not.

It will be of no use if its in their Warranty statement.

but the pixel in question is right in the middle of the screen which makes it a bit of a nuisance and hence is difficult to ignore/overlook while watching tv-and why should such an expensive tv develop a dead pixel within days of purchase?

If they have any sense of decency then they should replace the panel anyway as a token of their goodwill towards the customer,no matter whatever nonsense they might have in their terms and conditions.

also why does the consumer have to abide by such obnoxious terms and conditions that they might have chalked out for their own benefit? Its not as if the consumer was shown the document and agreed to it explicitly in writing before making the purchase! also a lawyer might argue that it might be borderline illegal to force someone to accept a tv thats essentially defective just because it goes "against their policy" to replace it unless certain criterion (As defined by them and may be considered illogical or impractical) are met.

99% of their typical buyers don't even know what their repair/replacement policies are and only learn about them when the proverbial $hit hits the fan and the company needs an excuse to not provide them the required service.

As per LG, they could take the replacement request if the TV had problem out of the box. As per their policies, if it is Dead On Arrival. I wonder what they will do when there is only 1 dead pixel out of the box, but TV is working as intended.
I am waiting for final words from area sales manager. If they did not accept the replacement, I plan to post on twitter and tag LG India.

There is no Guarantee if the newly replaced TV(s) won't have same problem or other. This happened to me with Cannon printer, within 1 yr the PCB was dead. Replaced it on warranty and again the PCB was dead. But the warranty was over and didn't want to pay for next repair. Since, then I lost trust on Cannon (printers). Their Camera is still great though.

Once a product malfunctions then Customer(s) looses trust in that brand.

Exactly, I bought realme phone, ilked its quality (in 2019) and so bought realme buds wireless, but those buds were shi* one side stopped after 2months, then came lock down and it stopped working again. Now 6 months were complete and it again stopped working. I was so mad about it.

Similarly I bought mi band 4 in 2019, and was impressed with it. The band is still working nice and good till now. Thinking about this, I bought mi tws 2c this year, now one side of the earbud drains it's battery only after 10minutes whilst the other one lasts only 40mins. Also, the volume gradually reduces and air needs to blowed in the bud to make it working. I was so tired by this I am back to those cheap 300 headphones, hoping they atleast last a year. I had to specifically buy that one because in ear types don't suit me, only hybrid in ear or airpod style works for me.

i think its all due to the additional investment to make the tv "smart",they shouldve just focused on the screen coz thats what theyre selling, whenever they all fail to achieve the eligibility they add new terms and policies .

Smart TV's are just a feature of planned obsolescence. Samsung can remotely disable TVs
