Your psu is lowest tier so not sure if you should take chance with any card above 1050Ti. Asus RX580 8gb is available for 20k from mdcomputers & seems to be the best option but cannot recommend that card for any psu below Corsair CX550.

1060 3gb is still a bit faster than RX570 & consumes lesser power so it seems to be better option:
ZOTAC GEFORCE GTX 1060 AMP EDITION 3GB GDDR5

Of course I personally wouldn't take a chance with any card higher than 1050Ti with a psu like VS550 but if you are willing then go ahead.

Your PSU ain't great as already pointed out. 1060 3GB performs a bit better & draws less power, so a better option for you.

Watt rating of PSU isn't everything. VS is a low quality Corsair PSU, good enough for a basic PC not gaming, CX series is good for budget gamers.

VS550 is good enough for 1060, i have ran a 1070 on a VS450. Get the 1060 OC version, its VFM.

Its nowhere as bad as being put by everyone here. The VS series has cheap chinese capacitors , it will probably not last as long as a good TX or CX series PSU, but since the OP already owns it, you can run your GPU for the time being on it, it will easily power it along with the CPU you have. As I said I have owned a VS450 for around 7 years and its still working, it ran a R9 270x Toxic, then a 750ti, and i even tested my 1070 on it. On prolonged gaming, it only heats up as much as a mobile does on charging, nothing more. your VS550 if new will easily run the 1060.

I don't really gain anything by suggesting you to keep using your PSU, rather if by any chance it blows up i might be the one you'd go about blaming. But i risk suggesting things i have personal experience with, because i feel a lot of info/opinions available on forums is quite exaggerated in nature. Corsair VS series was reported to have components which were as not good as its costlier counterparts, as every time someone parroted the fact about the PSU, he/she took the liberty to enhance his stance ever so slightly to put greater emphasis to his point ,and it eventually went from "not recommended if you have the money" to "dangerous stuff high risk blowing up" with time. Its diffucult to find an unbiased view for things in the forums nowadays, a thing is either "GREAT" or utter SHIT, theres no in between. Very few discussions on the pros and cons of everything. Unaware people get easily influenced by such comments and end up getting something which might not have been the perfect fit as per requirements. Faith on the info peddled by users in a forum keeps decreasing because of such herd mentality trends, i try actively to speak up if i notice such posts which i personally know about.

Corsair VS series is lower quality than latest CX x5x series, this is fact. Difference between price of VS450 & CX450 is less than 1k & CX450 is more than enough for a 1070+non-overclocked recent 4/6 core processor. VS450 is ok for a budget build using pentium dual core/ryzen 2200g with a320m/ryzen 3 with 1050Ti like systems where you absolutely can not afford extra 1k but if you can then I don't see any reson for buying a VS450 over a CX450.

As for VS550,again if you are not going to use more than 400W then no point getting a cheaper(& inferior) quality 550W psu over a good quality 450W psu.

As you said,it is your personal experience. If somebody buys a VS series psu & then face an issue then he can blame his luck & regret his decision of going for cheap psu but if somebody buys a CX series psu & then still faces an issue then he can only blame his luck. I would rather spend extra 1k to avoid the possibility of regretting my decision of going for a cheaper psu because luck is something which nobody can control & hence blaming luck is easier to accept.

Most people vastly overestimate the PSU power requirements. My whole rig with 750 GTX gpu runs on a 300W antec. I do not know about the reliability of the PSU VS550. But as far as wattage goes, a 1060 would be no problem for a 400W PSU.

Correct but the issue is,at least in India there are no good psu below 450w(corsair CX450).

@mitraark:You do have a point there but it seems you've been exceptionally lucky-websites like amazon are full of unfavourable reviews about the vs series psus-many of them complained that the psu started malfunctioning when it was put under heavy load and even failed unexpectedly.

It would be unwise to risk running a 14k gpu with a psu of dubious quality like the vs 550.
