Cheapest Possible i3 System for Daily Tasks?

I currently have a 6700k, Z170 Pro Gaming, GTX970 as my primary system, and I am leaving gaming for good. So I have decided to sell my entire system and buy the cheapest i3 possible. So kindly suggest a system according to that. Latest gen CPU is always preferred.

As low priced as possible, without having to really stutter for day to day tasks though. Will keep the 850 Evo. So just CPU, MoBo needed. And I have 16 gigs of DDR4 G.Skill, will just sell one 8 GB module and keep using the other 8 GB one, that would be okay right, rather than selling the full RAM kit and buy something new?

New i3 + MB will roughly cost about 18k.
Your CPU+MB+8 gigs memory, how much this gonna fetch? You should have spent north of 40k for this, right?
If you can't get good money in selling i7 combo, better keep 'em and use for daily tasks.

Wait what? Cheapest possible i3 with MB will cost me 18k? That's without RAM even? I thought 10-12k max!

For my system, CPU, MoBo, RAM and cooler I paid a total of Rs. 50500. All items are 5.5 months old. I will also be selling my 970 as well. Have a few months warranty left on that I think.

No no, not the cheapest. 7th gen i3 with B250 board will cost about 18k
For 10-12k, you can't even fit 4th gen i3 combo.

Okay got it. Then I'll have to look beyond i3s, what about them Pentium CPUs? I simply said i3s because I thought it would be the cheapest, other CPUs didn't cross my mind. Basically anything which won't stutter for daily tasks is okay.

Pentium would cost less than i3, but cost of board will be the same unless you opt for 100 series board or if there is any successor of H110 board.

If you want to fit them in 12k, 4th gen Pentium + H81 board + 4gigs of DDR3 memory will fit the bill. (4gigs is sufficient for daily tasks)

Budget is not even 18k man. 10k would be preferred.

I was looking at G4400 or something, which costs 4500, will that be okay?

That is Kabylake 4560 just released with HT cores but not yet reached India.

Skylake is 4400 but without HT available in India.

Intel Pentium G4400 is 4500
Intel Pentium G4560 is 6500

If you don't want to do gaming it will be much better if you can sell your CPU now , because next year things will change drastically.. basically i7 will have 6 cores + HT , and i5 will have 4 core + HT and i3's will be quad core without HT .. so your i7 will take a big hit in price ..
Plus with the upcoming AMD ryzen cpu , i7 might not even look that attractive .. This info is as per leaked intel slides and rumours so use your judgement ( though very strong chances)

Ram prices are rising and are expected to rise further , so you will also be able to get good money .. sell 1 stick of 8gb

don't buy i3 now , it is a complete waste of money this year .. Just simply get G4560 which performs same as i3 while being cheaper when it launches.. it is very close to i3 6100 in performance
and get a h110 board , you will need to flash a new bios so that will require a skylake CPU for flashing..

Both CPU + mobo will likely not cost more than Rs 9500 after a month ..

P.s - that G4560 bwindia link at Rs 4980 is very encouraging , just wait for a few more days for it to be available on other stores

How about just selling your i7 processor and buy an used i3 3220 (from trusted places, forums)? It will save you from changing motherboard, RAM.

You should get an i3 3220 for 4k.

Dude don't go by the marketing model numbers : (i3, pentium etc) , just compare the raw benchmarks..
PassMark CPU Benchmarks - High Mid Range CPU

G4400 - score : 3600 , approx local price: 4200
i3 3220 - score : 4200 . approx local price : 5000

Prices: *www.costtocost.in/list/pricelist.pdf - add 5% tax.

Just get some Rs 4k mobo with any you prefer and you are set! Personally I have a i3 3220 and it totally rocks with an SSD and 8 GB RAM! However I would recommend to go with g440 (after checking reviews) , because - skylake, and coz its performance is not much lower than the i3 3220

Slightly offtopic advise for everyone : If your PC stutters with today's CPU's - get an SSD, AND check for shitty software running in background.

You do realise that in 7th Gen there is virtually no difference between i3 and Pentium

Also going for 3rd gen today is not recommended
