Note 4 oem charger overheating?

Hello,
to all of you.
I have Note 4, I use OEM charger that came with mobile to charge the phone, some days ago, I noticed a strange problem I plugged the charger into the phone, after half an hour I checked the phone, the phone and the charger was very much hot and the percentage of the battery was just increased very little(from 10% to 21%), also the phone was very little responsive on that time, I immediately unplug the charger and restart the phone, after restarting the battery percentage increased suddenly(around 73%), I switched off the phone, after a day same thing happened again but this time, the phone's temperature is normal but the charger is overheated also the battery percentage was not increased and the phone is very little responsive, and now just some minutes ago this happened again, the charger was very much hot and battery percentage was very less after half an hour of charging and phone was very little responsive.I restart the phone and battery percentage increased suddenly. What would be problem? Is it with the charger or battery or with the phone? Please reply soon, as the warranty on accessories is about to expire.
Thank You.

Hello,

kkn13 and respected members,

Thank you for this reply, actually today I contacted the Samsung on their toll free number, they heared all the problem and connect me to their technical team expert, they told me to install Samsung Tutor application from the Play Store so that they can check the device remotely, after all this and after more than half an hour of checking they told me that the device and the battery is absolutely fine, the problem is with the charger so please visit the service center to replace the charger, if even after replacing the charger the problem still persists then they will replace the phone, after this I again charge the phone with the same charger and found that even when the battery percentage reaches 100% even after that the red signal of the battery charging wont turn green and also the charging signal on the icon of the battery remains, so this indicates there is some problem with the phone also. Now, I'll go to service center see what they say?

risky scenario
samsungs are known to explode
Id still suggest changing the phone itself

Try this-
Take the new charger
Use it for a few days but be extremely cautious with both the phone and charger and dont leave it unattended etc
Then after a few days,go back and insist on a new phone saying the issue still exists

Its tough to say whats causing it but its not worth risking explosions

Hello,

I have given the Charger as well as data cable for replacement, Hope to get it soon, btw, today I charge the phone with MI 10400 mah battery pack, and same thing happen again, the charging capacity and time stucks on the phone but this time, neither battery nor battery pack heats up, I also charge this phone in switch off mode, but in that mode everything seems fine, so it looks like software problem.Anyways, please advice respected members.Thank You.

Looks like you got a defective unit
insist on a brand new set asap imho
not worth risking your life like that(samsungs have a reputation of exploding batteries etc when you least expect it)

Hello,
Actually, my unit was not defective, I got this unit in the month of Jan, everything working fine, just some days ago, I forget to charge the phone in the night, next day, when I saw the phone, the battery percentage left was just 1%, I immediately plug the charger, the charging starts, but when I checked the phone after half an hour, as I told, the charger as well as phone was heated and time & battery charging capacity stucked on the screen, and the phone was very much unresponsive on that time, after that you know all the story, now, it's little arduous task to actually know for me what happened? because before this everything running was very much fine.

From what you described above, the heating issue is most probably caused due to "Fast charging" enabled.
I own a Note 4, and I have faced this. "Fast charging" is nothing but excessive charge(2A) that is used to charge up the battery quickly than your normal charger(1.67A).
This heating is observed prominently especially when the phone is quite low on charge. The more the battery needs to be charged with "Quick/Fast charge" the more heat it generates. Hope this helps.

Cheers!

Hello,
Thank you for this reply, I want to know so Is it ok to use fast charging option, or Should I disable it?

I have been fast charging (at 2000 mA) my Note 3 for past six months or something, there is ZERO issues! If your charger is capable of outputting 2.0 A then there shouldn't be any problem at all. Phones don't take excessive charges anyway!
In any case, just use an original Samsung charger, not anything else.
Some weird and false statements have been made in last page to scare you, absolutely unnecessarily, which I don't understand why and have reported!

That is not overheating. When you use a fast charger it will try to make it happen quickly thus you can feel it warm. If you don't want to use quick charge just use another charger. But it will take hours to get full charge.

Using Quick charge isn't a problem.
However, all the excessive heat that is generated is going to affect the battery in the long run(say after 2 years).
Hence what I would suggest is to use it cleverly only when necessary. Most of the times you can use normal charging, even that will charge up the phone in around 2 hours.

Cheers!
