Laptop for 35-38k (Edit: extended to 45k)

1) What is your budget?
A: 35k, extendable by 3k

2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?
A: Any of the below will do.
Thin and Light; 12" - 14" screen
Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen

3) What are the primary tasks you will be performing with this notebook?
A: Visual Studio 2013, Photoshop, Browsing, Light Gaming (CS:GO, 50-80 FPS on low/med settings)

5) Any typical configuration in your mind you're eying for ?
A: No

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
A: Any brand with a good customer support and warranty period will do.

6) Anything else you would like to say?
A: 6 cell battery preferred. Comfortable with both online and local options.

I was actually planning for a desktop (Mid-range gaming) a few weeks back but I realised that I need portability and a desktop isn't going to be a good option for me.
Also, I knew that to achieve a similar gaming experience I have to cough up a LOT more (almost double of my desktop budget) and many of my gaming friends suggested based on experience that it STILL isn't going to be worth it. So I decided not to get a gaming laptop at all and save up for a desktop for when the time comes.
I know it's going to be hard to find, but anything that runs GO at low/med settings at a playable FPS (50-80) should be more than enough.

IMO, increase budget and wait for Lenovo Others - (No OS/Others) Rs.0 Price in India - Buy Lenovo Others - (No OS/Others) Black Online - Lenovo : Flipkart.com to get back in stock or check it out locally. 840M will satisfy your needs.

There is a big difference in laptop gaming and desktop gaming and the latter always has a upper hand in the gaming scenario. You actually need to cough a lot for a laptop and upgradiblity will always be a question.

Seems good. Any similar config with Windows 8.1?
Edit: Btw this one isn't available in any online store. Also, Checked its Win8 variant with 8GB RAM, 4GB 840M @ 53k. Gets out of budget by a large margin. I can manage around 44k MAX. Any other 840M suggestion under this?

I know. That is why I decided not to spend too much on that. XoticPC also didn't prove to be a good option. Shipping and customs for the 860M model brought the prices same (almost) as that of a Lenovo Y50, thanks to the ever-rising rupee-dollar conversion rate.

You do know that windows 8 is freely upgradable to 8.1 plus all the new laptops are now shipping with 8.1 even though they say Windows 8.

I know.. any version will do, doesn't matter.

btw I found this Dell Inspiron 3542 i5 4210U, 4GB, 1TB, 2GB 840M, Win 8.1
It also has touchscreen and backlit keyboard.

Just make sure that whether DELL honors the warranty if you buy from Snapdeal.
AFAIK,if one buys from amazon.in,DELL won't honor or grant any warranty for its machines(Laptop/Desktop/Tablet).

Looks good and on top of it I think Dell provides warranty on SD bought products. So I think you can go for this.

After much thought and research, I raised my budget and decided to go with Lenovo z50-70 ( i5 4210U, 8GB, 1TB, 4GB 840M, Win 8.1 )

Looks good and on top of it I think Dell provides warranty on SD bought products. So I think you can go for this.
Saw some reviews where people said otherwise, so cancelled this.

Main Reason for going with z50-70 was a better config and warranty options.

A little heads-up for people looking for a good warranty:
Avoid purchasing from Online Stores. Not all online retailers are authorised with Lenovo, and they won't accept your registration for extended warranty.
You can find the list of valid retailers on lenovopromo.net > FAQ

I bought it from Reliance Digital. Cost me 53k including a carry bag.

Review so far:
The Good Stuff:
Happy with the performance. Gives me 120+ fps on 1024x768 low settings in CSGO, which is very satisfactory for me.
No overheating issues so far. Gaming will heat it up but to a normal extent.
Screen is good. Easily beats Y50.
Lenovo currently has an offer under which you get a 2 year extended warranty for free ( Only on select models and should be an authorised dealer )

The Bad Stuff:
Keyboard seems fragile. Especially around E,R keys.. pressing those will push the surrounding region downwards a bit.
Battery life is average and gaming will suck it all up within an hour.

Remove the battery switch to the main power and enjoy your machine.
I don't think it would be safe to remove the battery.
I know ideally there are no issues with battery removed but it works as a UPS in case of a power cut and voltage fluctuations.
Use the laptop always plugged to AC power, unless its unavailable.
I do it only while gaming. Is it not a good measure to use battery to maintain it's life?
