[Complaint] Horrible experiences with Accel/Gigabyte

Hello folks,

In this thread I would like to share my experience with Accel which manages RMA for Gigabyte.

A year & half ago, when building my new AMD rig, I chose motherboard from Gigabyte as after sales service was quite good compared to others. Instant refurbished replacements were given and were allowed to check, which would mean almost zero downtime in terms of numbers of days. I had bought 880GM-USB3 mobo with support of AM3+.

It was working fine till end of September but later it started giving issues. System's display would go off all of sudden and it would crash. Sometimes I had to manually restart it, sometimes it would restart automatically. On diagnosing I found out that one of the RAM slot is faulty and PCI-E slot is also having issue - whenever I would plug my graphic card, display would go off even if RAMs are not put in faulty slots. Same graphic card runs fine in another system of one of my friends. So I decided to visit service center.

Attempt 1 - 7th October, Monday.
I reach Lemington Road service center at 3.40 PM. I expected process to be over in around 35-40 minutes but scenario to my shock was completely different. There were approx 55-60 people waiting in queue to submit motherboards. I had a small chat with one guy who was seating there from 2.10 PM to submit the motherboard. There were approx 26 token were pending at that time. Since I din't had expected this long waiting time I left from there as I was having my lecture scheduled at 5 PM.

Attempt 2 - 12th October, Saturday.
When visited Monday I made sure they work on Saturday. So I decided to visit on Saturday morning, as queue might be lesser in morning. But my run of bad luck continues. There was a notice saying service center will remain shut on that particular Saturday. On enquiringly I was suggested that service center at Andheri is working today. Before visiting there I preferred to call there. They confirmed they were working till 1 PM that day. But to my ultimate shock, waiting period for getting board in return was 1 month No possible ways I could afford my system to be shut for a month. Again I returned home without submitting board.

Attempt 3 - 15th October, Tuesday
We decided not to go on Monday as there will be great rush due to two day closure of service center. So on Tuesday my brother reaches there at 4.15 PM. Already a big mess and chaos with approx 25-30 people standing near counter space and arguing heatedly. In next 15 mins my brother figured out the whole scenario. Someone from the crowd waiting for their turn was passing derogatory comments, whistling, etc against service center; to which other people were enjoying and laughing. After that this person finished his job of submitting board for RMA and left service center, females in service centers started bashing people who were laughing/enjoying. Most arguments by females were valid in terms of insult of women. However it all was after that culprit left premises. Post this event they denied accepting motherboards of anyone and told let manager sort this out. Token number running at that time was 107. At 5.10 my brother left from the service center as there was not any progress.


This is the pathetic condition and sorry state of Gigabyte service center managed by Accel in Lamington Road, Mumbai. They operate from 10AM-6PM. Also one thing to note is rising numbers of people coming for RMA of boards. Considering token no 107 at 4.15PM, let say 75% of them submit board, its still ~80+ boards/day as still 2 hours of operations would be pending.

This incidences have alarmed me and made me rethink my choice of Gigabyte for my motherboard.

As of now I have not attempted any fourth attempt to submit the motherboard as my exams are going on. Using my system with 1 stick of RAM in working RAM slot so at-least I m not completely handicapped without a PC.

Also one thing to note is rising numbers of people coming for RMA of boards. Well, I & one of my cousins had a similiar experience a long time back with a Gigabyte Titan 667 P4 Motherboard - There was a problem with the HDD ports on the board. It was also at the fag end of the warranty period (about 1 month left). Eventually after struggling with the RMA process for a long time the warranty was over, and we took the board back, got it serviced by a 3rd party at cost, and working well. (On another thought, all the people who bash Govt/Public Institutions, I will say that where I'm working at the moment (a public limited company), in spite of "official" hours being 10 to 5, we provide customer service till 7:30-8PM. These private guys are far worse many times when it comes to customer service).

oh wow...Xenforo!!!
The only reason why Gigabyte India service changed overnight because they ditched their contract with digicare to accel frontline. Asus was quick (and smart- all things considered) to sign up with digicare.
