Hi,

I want to buy a Laptop with a 17" screen. I noticed that there are only few models available in the market. Can you tell me which one should I buy? I am a Web and Multimedia Professional and needs to work with Photoshop, Flash regularly. Budget is also matters. But I am searching for a best deal.

Thanks,
Debraj

It's difficult to find 17" laptops and these are real pain when it comes to mobility.

HP Elitebook 8740

Dell Precision M6500

price matters hence define the upper limit. If you are on your way to shell out a sum of 1-1.5 lakh check out these models which are offered as mobile workstation by their companies.

I checked lenovo as well but did not like what they are offering

Thanks for the info. My budget is 1 lakh MAX.

I may face some cursing right now but given your line of work, why don't you get a MBP?

15" with core i5, GT330 costs 1L and 17" costs 1.4L.

Dell's side, Check M4500 (downside is 15.6" not 17") for 80k and M6400 (17" panel). pretty powerful config.

PS: I am not a fan of HP makes and generally won't suggest them, especially if the work is CPU/GPU intensive.

If you can wait or add 20k more then take a look at
ASUS NX90JQ with
* 18.4" Full HD(1920*1080) LED Backlit display
* Intel Core i7 720QM
* 8GB DDR3 RAM
* 1GB Nvidia GeForce GT335
* Two USB 3.0 ports
* 1 TB HDD
* Blue-Ray Disk Drive
* Outstanding Speakers (better than any laptop)
* Windows 7 HP
* Great build quality
Priced at around 1.20 lakhs...

@naino ASUS is a wonderful brand for laptops, and it the most reliable too. But if their laptop service and support is handled by Rashi or similar firm, better stay away coz they are real big pain to handle.

ASUS-Gaming-Notebook-G73Jh, my question is would a gaming laptop be suitable for the job. seller is from bangalore, so if you got any friend you can go and check with them

G73 is a power horse for sure and comes with HD5870, which has got more punch

another online store selling Asus is www.anythinginit.com -- Asus NX90JQ YZ071V Laptop (Ci7 8G 1TB 1G W7P) price is 1.15 quotes on the site.

I see OP has Kolkata set in location, I am not getting any stores.

desibond, after your comment saying Asus are better I have been checking online for quiet some time. but getting local dealers is a problem.

OP you can also check with SMC international they say they deal in Asus notebooks, if they can ship that as well would be nice.

Hi buddy,

to get things rolling theres another workaround. I was looking for similar lappy nd a fren suggested me to go for a powerful lappy that wld run all u need and buy an external monitor .. that ways u get best of both d worlds.

Do consider this .. even if u buy 2 monitors(1 hme and 1 office) @ 15K each and a solid lappy like XPS 15 wid core i5, 4 GB ram & Geforce 420 1GB grafx

it works up to 80 grands .. whrein u get two 24 inch full HD monitors and one 15.6" HD display .. size is under control whicch means more portability. an overall Win win situation as it seems to me .. U take uer call :) :wink:
