Err.. what?
I am looking for a laptop within 50K. I'm going to do a lot of processor-intensive encodes and some gaming. Which is best laptop which is both durable(I'm probably going to use it for the next 4 years) and doesn't compromise on features? Thanks.

My choice is HP and Acer for ur budget and the kind of work you have mentioned. You need a good processor (Chose from C2D or Turon II), high amount of memory and a good mobile graphics card. At your budget, HP and Acer will provide you all the options u need.

My Suggestion is

HP Pavilion DV4-1503TU (Rs 48,500) (Intel C2D based)

* Windows 7 Home Premium

* Intel PM45 Express Chipset
* ATI Mobility Radeion HD 4650 Graphics (1GB DDR3 Dedicated Memory)
* 4GB DDR3 RAM (1066 MHz)
* 320GB Hard Disk (7200 RPM)

or

HP Pavilion DV6-2005AX (Rs44000) (AMD Turon II based)

Now both the laptops are having some merits and Dimerits over other

+ points for HP Pavilion DV4-1503TU

1. Good processor (2.2 GHz, 2 MB Cache)
2. DDR3 Ram (Good for future upgrade)
3. 7200 rpm HDD
4. Weight is within 3 kg.

-Points for HP Pavilion DV4-1503TU
1. C2D 6600 is not a true penryn processor. It has slower FSB 800 MHz, compared to 1066 Mhz of Penryn and 3200 MTs of AMD Turon II
2. 14" screen is is little less for a gaming/multimedia laptop

----------------------------------------------------

+ points for DV6-2005AX

1. Very good Processor AMD Turon II 500. Its performance is better than C2D 6600 and comparable with C2D 8400.
2. 15.6" screen suitable for gaming and watching movie.
3.Weight is very les for a 15.4" laptop (2.59 Kg)
4.

- points for DV6-2005AX

The only cons it is having is DDR2 RAm. DDR2 ram is phasing out currently. But 4 GB RAM is more than enough for today's application.

----------------------------------------

They are far better than any Dell laptop offering at this budget. Dell is having ATI mobility radeon 4570 as Gfx card with DDR2 vRam, hence not a great performer in game.
