re: Mobile Reference Guide: May 2012

-1 hey, i guess you should check XDA and moreover youtube for proof:-x
It does support ICS with CM9 infact CM v.7.x makes its battery last like 1day+ :D (i ain't kiddin here;trust me :|)

and YES people who browse the thread should be aware of each and every possible "better/good/best" options they have at their disposal.

Only ICS or CM is not what make a mobile good. Screen size, touch response, battery life, camera and blah blah blah all make phone worth for the money you pay. Every phone below 5k have small screen(most with resistive type), low battery life(some with 2hrs talk-time are also there) etc etc so they are just fail. Also remember about 90% people dont even know about custom firmware and even if they know it they wont do it cause it says Warranty will be void....

- resistive..? u kiddin guess you should check the specs of the phone "i've been talking abt" :|
FYI it DOES have a capacitive touch screen
- touch looks ok for a sub 5k android; read review-check youtube :)

- small screen? for sub5k range what else do ya want??! :O

- low battery? again check specs (the mah of the batt. + reviews & youtube.)

- i do agree newbies dont even know about firmware n stuff. BUT.. :D
it could be of help to those who are actually power users and are willing to try ICS/CM at an ok-ok (not cool but yes "fine") experience at sub 5k range :p

:|

and yea do check XDA for huawei u8160 (AFAIK thats the vodafone 858 smart).

ANYWAYs, as the phone itself is still stuck at a price of 4995 INR on Vodafone's website and the same model is selling at around 3.9k INR (converted from pounds) in UK.
I really won't be recommending this phone to TDF fellas :p

BTW why dont you link the models to '91mobiles' instead of GSM Arena. It will help viewers to get the specs as well as the price @ different online shops.

^^ now you are suggesting this :(
well at time of writing that thing didn't came to my mind. i always visit 91mobile to find latest pricing. lets see. just changing links will take 30-40min. can be done. thanks for the idea BTW

UPDATE

now links point to 91mobile rather than GSMArena :)

thanks a lot to saswat for the idea :)

Wow man! Changing all those links could have been quite tiresome!
But, can't help it. It's not a public doc, which any one can edit!

Nice job sam.

re: Mobile Reference Guide: May 2012

Well, thanks to this thread, it was easy for me to suggest someone Nokia 500, for whom the concerned point was large screen, good battery life and good camera.

Btw, @Sam: Small correction. You missed out to put the correct link for Nokia 500. :)

Which led me to check all other links. But those were correct! :D

but almost all buyers of Nokia 500 said to avoid it. it has 5MP camera but i doubt its quality. and it hangs more than a desi Android :|

ah, thanks for pointing. i missed it somehow :)
