According to Microsoft, Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista delivers an evolution in terms of compatibility, reliability, and performance, as compared with Service Pack 1. This albeit, the Redmond company did characterize Vista SP2 as nothing more than a standard service pack with no major changes under-the-hood or on the surface. Still, there are new components, such as Hyper-V (for Windows Server 2008) and Compcln.exe, as detailed in the Notable Changes in Windows Server 2008 SP2 Beta and Windows Vista SP2 Beta resource.

Windows Server 2008 is better than Vista in almost every aspects barring application compatibilities, as of SP1.

is that so...i never used server 2008, is it much faster than vista?

how many compatability issues are still persisting?

where are you shantanu ? didn't you say you got boosted FPS in GTA IV with the beta ?

Kya yaar, why are you pulling his leg? :) That time, SP1 did had some performance improvement updates in it, but AFAIK i haven't seen much updates of that kind this time on "patch tuesdays". I can only remember seeing two or three. and since SPs are almost 80% built on previously released updates, i think game performance isn't going to gain much this time.
