I am planning to buy a 27" 2K monitor and connect it to my old laptop. But wondering if I can run into any issues or will the monitor work just fine ?

VG271U lacks a height-adjustable stand for such an expensive monitor. Get Acer XV272U or Lenovo G27q-20.

Gigabyte M27Q is great for 30k.

Ryzen 3 is not too old to not support 1440p 144Hz, just check its HDMI version number for 144Hz support, else might run at 120Hz, not like that matters with your current laptop.
