widescreen issue!!

hello all,


i just wanna know whether i can use full screen in flat display for laptops while viewing a video in win media player or any other player....i have a 12.1 wide screen from hp n video display does not completely pan n scan to widescreen view but there r cut outs from both sides...ie. some gap is left blank on both sides

This depends on the aspect ratio of the video and your screen. If your screen has an aspect ratio of 16:10 and the video is 16:9, there will be gaps on the top and bottom. If the ratio is something like 3:4, there will be gaps on the left and right.
However, you can use VLC media player to do what you want. When the video starts playing, select your aspect ratio from the video menu in the menu bar. Be warned though that if you select a ratio that is drastically different from the video's native ratio, it might become terribly disproportional.

Its really better to choose the aspect ratio same as ur video coz u will get clarity in that.

I use a HP Laptop 15.4" wide n its better if u watch it that way n do not make it full screen.

u got 15.4 thats ok buddy...but mine is almost like a pda of 12.1 inch(hp tablet)...from such a small screen further cuttings wont luk nice

ps: checking vlc...any other advice!!! is it safe playing wit the ratio?

What do you mean by "safe"? I can assure you that you won't be attacked by militants if you change the aspect ratio, for one thing.

hi i chekcd out vlc its workin fine but drwbacks....i cant use my remote or multimedia keys to operate d player....isnt thr ne way to make it work in widescreen in win media player 11 wit vista
