Why modem speaks???

i have a hsp56 micromodem. i want to recive call using my PC so i had tried phone dialer(XP) but when i recives the call the voice comes from the modem speaker whereas with same confg and OS my friend can listen my voice using his PC speaker.
i also have an error in EVENT VIEWER related to this:
Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the PCTEL Speaker Phone service to connect.

Now how can i solve this problem

Try this.
Uninstall the modem from the system.
Reboot the system and again install the drivers.

just change the default output device in the preffered devices section under soung configration to the sound card and you will have no problems.
