Have you copied the files from a CD or installed it using it's executable.

this is not the problem with win xp or installation
actully need for speed sereise before hot pursuite II or NFS 7 was nt made to run on nt core. lk NFSPU or NFS V porcshe unleshed cannot run on win NT or 2K or XP unless you patch it or rename a dll file.
so your NFS II cannot run on xp unless you patch it
try to google it for the patch then only you can run it on xp

Right click on the exe file and select properties. Go to Compatibility Tab and place a check on "Run this program in compatibility mode". Try setting to Win98 compatibility and if it doesnt work, Win95 compatibility..

nfspu and nfs2se work absolutely fine for me in xp in compatibility mode. no patching needed for me!! even for many of my frenz. i guess the problem is something else.

its not related for directx either, for sure. its the file incompatibility wid nt core.

dunno how it works for me!!! hey make sure none of the files haf the read-only tag.

Well, it runs perfectly on my Windows XP without any Compatibility Mode setting !!

I think, if it's not a valid Win32 application .. then it's not a valid Win32 application. It's not the correct file. Most probably, the file is corrupted.

You know what, do one thing ..
# Download a small ( 80kb ) free utility called FSUM
# Place the exe file in your C:\Windows\System32 folder ( dont worry it's not a virus or spyware etc )
# Now go to Start -> Run -> type "cmd"

In command prompt window .. type
F:<enter>
cd "NEED 2"<enter>
fsum nfs2sen.exe >new.txt<enter>

There will be a file by the name new.txt in your "F:\NEED 2" folder. Post the contents of that folder.

I get the following md5 sum ..
Code:
30e8950b5f36d22a27c25bf080dea541 *NFS2SEN.EXE
What is expected is that you and others should get the same MD5 sum.
Others also post their MD5 sum .. may be, my file is corrupted. :)

ohh .. the whole idea of new.txt was that you dont post another screenshot. :)
You forgot to write ">new.txt" in fsum command ... read my last post carefully.
Anyways .. we have the checksum visible in the cmd prompt window and it's surely different from mine.

I seriously think your nfs2sen.exe file is corrupted.
Just wait for some more time and see if somebody else comes up with any other possible reason.
