Why do I see ads on Digit Forum after logging in?

Hi,

I thought ads were only for those who are unregistered and / or have not logged on to Digit Forum.
These days when I log in to Digit Forum I see ads, mostly in one or two places.

Top bar and sometimes just below the search box.
Am I missing something (may be in settings) or is this a new norm of Digit Forum?

Just use adblockers, if the ads obstructs you.

Do adblockers just block the ad leaving blank ad space there on layout or are they totally removed from the layout?

I am used to seeing certain things at certain positions on the layout and presence of ad disturbs that layout in fact!

Bit of a surprise but ads disappear completely after I changed the style to TDF Dark in preferences!!

I am alright with the ads if they help Digit Forum stay profitable.

Digit is the only standing publication in India now worth its salt and it would be sad to see it go under.

I have subscribed to its print edition just to suuport them (hardly get the time to read) and am totally alright with one or two non-intrusive ads.

I use TDF dark too. Just love it. Maybe ads are their in other themes.

@raabo or any one from staff, how useful is it to keep ads on while browsing the forum? Can you have another dark theme with the same settings but ads enabled?
