I'm looking to gift my father a new phone, Currently he is using some appo 10-15k phone which is 1-2 years old.

Budger 30-35k can stretch to 40

The camera should be very good ( this is the main reason to upgrade )
Interference should be easy?
No gaming ( sodoku at most )
fast charging
facial recognization would be nice but not a deal-breaker.
A fingerprint reader is a must if no facial recognization

edit - would prefer a thin phone, im currently using a 6t and very happy with it. something similar. new 7t some people saying its very thick

For his usage, you'd be wasting money by going above 20k in my opinion.
+1 to this

Something like Redmi Note 8 Pro or K20 is sufficient for him IMO.

If you want to spend more, get OP 7T now or wait for Note 10 Lite's launch tomorrow. I think your father might appreciate a Samsung phone more than a Oneplus.

Not sure how 7T is thicker than most other phones available in the market, it surely has a camera bump though:

. Budget? 30-35k
2. Display type and size? any
3. Dual sim? neutral
4. The preferred choice of brand? open to any brand, but i know one plus is good as ive used it ( one plus, 1,2,3t,6t )
5. What camera option you want (flash, front-facing camera)? front dosent really matter to much but main camera should be very good.
6. Preferred operating system? (Android, iOS,Stock Android etc). does it really matter?
7. Preferred connectivity options (Dual 4G,802.11AC/5Ghz(not 5g mobile network) wifi). 3g/4g seems fine
8. Primary use of handset (multimedia, camera, internet, gaming etc)? calling/lots of work calls. internet.
9. Any specific mobile phones in consideration?

Shortlisted one plus 7t and realme x20 pro

10. Any other info that you want to share

Build quality must be really good when holding the phone. Lightweight preferred.
The camera should be very good.
software interference should be easy I guess.

Question, does android updates really matter?
my budget 30-40k, i know i could spend 20k for my price range but i want to spend a little bit more as its a gift for my father
=
Mostly wanted to go for the realme x2 pro but people saying software is an issue. Does it really matter? the super-fast charging 64mega pixel sold me.
secondly, I'm hesitant on buying from Flipkart, ( just my experience, had bought 3k wireless headset a few years back and came out defective, flipkart didnt even accept return ) I blindly trust amazon

Edit, my sisters have spend 80k on the newest iphone or whatever the price was. Me and my dad both dont care about brands. good quality phone is what matters

OP 7T is a solid choice, but for your father, the newly launched Samsung Note10 lite is also a great option, because of better battery life & brand value, costs 39k.

OS & software support does matter. The iOS has a lot of restrictions which aren't there in android, long time iPhone users & light android users won't know about it, say stuff like downloading a file outside app (say music or video from browser), severely restricted customization options compared to android, etc, to name a few. For your parents, it might not matter much, until he is trying to do something out of the ordinary.

OS updates does matter as you can get latest features & fixes for security vulnerabilities. Its great of you can find a phone with latest OS that has a track record of at least 2 years of OS support, both Note10 lite & 7T are good in this respect. Both launched with android 10 & will get updates till android 12, maybe even 13 for 7T.

Realme uses Oppo's OS, even new Realme OS is just reskinned Color OS. Its inferior to Samsung & OP's UI. Also, not so good track record of updates, X2 Pro is yet to get Android 10 update. Note10 lite has inferior SoC, similar to S845, but its plenty powerful for normal tasks, only S855/855+ have clear advantage over it.

MP of a camera doesn't matter at all. Samsung's top flagships (S10 & Note10), Pixel 4 & iPhone 11 easily has a better camera than 48/64/108MP phones out there. My S8's 8MP front cam is better than 16MP of OP6/6T (tested side by side).
