I finally settled for HD raedon 4600 series but i was baffled by the price differences the brands were showing for same product

Here what the local retailers (In Raipur ) Offer

XFX Raedon 4650 (512 mb) -- Rs 4.2k/-

Sapphire Rae 4670 (1GB) -- Rs 4.9k/-

Asus rae 4670 (1 GB ) -- Rs 5.8k/-

Now i am literally confused as there is so much difference between similar products and in some case even for same specifications the difference is massive . Should i go for sapphire ? What extra features Does Asus give for so much price range ?

Maybe the retailer was bluffing but i need confirmation

Get the sapphire one, the XFX one is 4650, so its much weaker, on the other hand 4670 can't really use 1GB memory, so 512MB is fine.

Get Sapphire, good brand, good warranty and moderate price, and the dealer gave descent price, its supposed to cost about 4.7k, so its more or less OK.

I don't understand ,what do you mean by 4670 can't use 1 GB memory :???:
Say you have a pentium 3 and 4GB memory, is it of any use? No, its a similar analogy, the 4670 has small no of shaders, so the amount of data it can analyze per sec will fit on 512mb memory easily, so if you have 1GB memeory on GPU, 512mb is going to waste as it can't use all that memory, but high end GPUs can, a GTX285 has enough processing power to crunch a large amount of data which will not fit on 512mb, it needs a larger amount of memory(1GB). So a 1GB 4670 is nothing but a marketing gimmick. GPU speed and power depends on no of shaders mainly, other stuff like memory requirements depend on it.

PS- This is mere simplified analogy but it works like that, I don't know this stuff in that much detail.

^Lol, make that human. Rats are much better than humies.

Anyway on topic: Sapphire is a good brand for ATI cards in general. If you can find MSI, then it is also good, so is Palit. Just look for warranty. Some brands may give more warranty and some have good after sales service. AFAIK, XFX has ASService by Rashi Peripherals, which does not have a good reputation for service at all.

oh wow...Xenforo!!!
Palit stopped making cards for ati. I found TIM which is usually used on low profile cards on mid end cards- perhaps that's why people complain about xfx heating up after using it for some time. Sapphire's warranty is honoured by aditya infotech. Sapphire from other country can get their warranty honoured here via aditya infotech as well- all one need is a copy of an email from sapphire tech support authorising the RMA and maybe a small fee for shipping to U.S.
