My problem will be better described by these images.........
BEFORE

AFTER (tapping on the sides of the monitor)

what could be the problem. i suppose it to be some magnetic problem with in the monitor. so on tapping the alignment gets corrected.
info abt monitor:

I think its suffering the effects of Old Age..

AFAIK, That happens when the Focusing Coils have gone bad.

Try to get it Repaired.

What is problem..the only problem I can guess is "unable to adjust screen shape setting".
That you can do using moniter setting buttons..available on moniter

the first time i saw it i thought the same, then inside the OSD, each setting was at 50 (0 min, 100 max). thats when i realized the picture itself was deformed.

@pannaguma: you must have spent a bomb to buy that monitor 6 years ago. do you remember how much you paid for it?

If you haven't done any modification in monitor setting..and all setting is set to max..than I am scared it is ur monitor's CRT(cathode ray tube )problem.

around 15.5k. but the whole rig was for 52k. but the bomb has been more than compensated. had to spend 600rs for repairs once.

*It's time to repair the monitor*
It's the prob of power supply in monitor (can't remember what it is called), it is not giving you enough power to adjust the image.

You can repair it as it will cost not more than Rs.300-400:)

general problem with LG monitors. take it to the LG service center. They will take 350 bucks and change a chip or something like that.
And your monitor will be ok.

One year back, I had a similar problem with my Lg Flatron ( bought 6-7 years back for 13K) and then I took it as a guise to buy a 19" LCD. Later when I had to RMA the LCD and being devoid of a monitor, got it repaired locally for about 300 or 400.

that why i said that LG SUCKS! I too had an LG monitor and a more worse problem. the screen used to go blank with a rainbowish like thing on whole screen but it used to come back after a good knockin on it. but finally it malfunctioned completely and had to switch to new monitor

well i have had to repair my monitor once last year to replace the transformer, cost some 650rs for parts + ~400rs for servicing. but otherwise no problem, and nearly 7 years of total viewing pleasure. YIPPIE-KI-YAY.
Well lcd prices may have dropped, but my next monitor has to be atleast 32" lcd. they cost nearly 40K (or more), so i'd better wait and buy it with my next rig.

I disagree. It served me well for 6-7 years before the problem occurred. I think, for a CRT it is very reasonable. I don't expect the LCDs to last that much.
