what is wi-fi,how can i config my laptop to get wi-fi

hi i m in chennai..
i ve got a new compaq presario notebook...
i want to use wi-fi in that..
please tell me how to configure my notebook to get wi-fi
where can i get it...

Wifi is nothing just a wireless LAN.

If you laptop supports Wifi ie. inbuilt Wifi then all you need is to either look for local WiFi ISP in order to use internet using WiFi or you can connect to office lan which uses Wifi.

Its simple, that if you get in a region where there is Wifi then your computer will detect it and you can connect to it and use it (if allowed).
