well this is wierd i didnt even play with my registry and this has happened ... i tried changing to the classic windows look and found the text to be there which has led me to believe that some how the width for this has been reduced ... vishal .... gx koi hai

One question, is that the taskbar's quicklaunch part? I didn't get what you wanted to say.....

nahi re its not the quick launch part its the other part where like winamp is running so thr is winamp written next to it if firefox is running firefox is written next to it .... nothing is thr only an icon of the program running or icon of window open

Oh....k, that is the taskbar area & only Icon is showing, not the text. revart to Vista aero again, that should fix it. r u using some skin?

also if i change the position of the taskbar say move it vertically towards the left ... names of programs and windows appears

Well, the only solution I was able to come up with is to make a new profile & switch to it. Simple.

iMav, try unlocking the taskbar. Maybe you'll see drag handles on the right side of the window buttons that you can drag towards the right.

Open regedit and goto:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics

In right-side pane, change value of MinWidth to -45

it is -45 ... i tried tht i changed it to 300 also no change

Cool. Actually its a per user setting and doesnt affect until its edited either using regedit or by any 3rd party utility.
May be u used Tuneup Utilities, Vista Manager or any other software coz most of them provide options to change taskbar buttons size.

na nothing like tht it was fine till last nite today morning i booted and i was like yeh kya hua .... googled a bit and found -45 wala key woh bhi waisa tha toh had to turn to thinkdigit ... thanx its working now ... ohir kuch hoga toh sochunga
