Variations In AMD

which works better.

1)An AMD proccy with single core running 1.8 or a AMD Dual Core running at 1.8 ?

AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core 3800+ @ 2GHz
OR
AMD Athlon (single Core) 3200+ @ 2GHz

2) Amd site also said that AMD Athlon (Single-Core) is good for gaming.

if the game has been optimsed to make use of the processing power of both d cores then obviusly dual-core is wat u shud go 4

but if it is not then AFAIK there will be no noticable difference in performance

if u plannin on runnin other appz like AV scan, photo-editin then again dual core is waht u shud go 4

but unless u got dual-monitor/keyborad setup, dont c u doing phot-editing and gamin @ d same time :)

basically d other core will take the load off the core that is being used for gaming

but if u r just gaming @ a given time then there will not b any diff

yup... games perform better on dual cores only if they are written to take advantage of them. But , Photoshop ,video editing /audio editing softys are written to produce multiple threads which IS wht exactly dual cores are meant to handle

Its advisable to go for a Dual Core, Most of the games that are being released these days are optimized for Multiple Cores. (In fact, the soon-to-be-released Alan Wake will NOT even run on a single core proc.)
