this was actually RMA'ed. Original Kit was 16gb x 2 Trident Z which i sent for RMA as it was not working. One stick in the original kit had physical damage, so they replaced only 1 stick

In that case what were the specs of original ram because if it was not CL14 & you got CL14 as replacement then you got quite lucky.

You got double lucky, they stopped selling CL15 trident Z/3000MHz ddr4 ram after initial launch year & I don't think any site here sold CL14 trident Z 3000MHz ram for more than a few units/very expensive 32/64gb kits. If it was 2018 people would have bought this ram even at new ram prices of that time.:)

i got unlucky as i have only 1 stick :p. ANd there were purchased in USA, but i have indian warranty on it ;)

I forgot but what exactly did they saw as physical damage as it is really difficult to physically damage a ram compared to say processor or mobo(pins) or even graphics card. Btw as I expected these are US parts that's why you got CL15(& now 14) ram but I didn't know gskill gave international warranty.

The resistor got damaged due to poor handling by my cousin.
And warranty, it is a hit or miss. You may get, you may not.
