In the zone
login as administrator
Right click on the folder and click properties ,and then the security tab. (you should disable simple file sharing to get the security tab. In explorer menu select Tools->Options->View . then uncheck the last option that reads Use Simple file sharing. )
you may need to take the ownership of the folder.

I'm back!
Taking Ownership

Hi Johny,

hafees is right! You just need to take the ownership and
you'll command full access over your "My Documents" folder!

Here's how to Take Ownership in detail:

[1] Login with an "Administrative-Level" Account into your NEWly installed Windows XP.

[2] Right-click on the "My Documents" folder and click on "Properties".

[3] In the "Properties" dialog box click on the "Security" tab.

[IF U DON'T SEE THE SECURITY TAB] Then:

If you are having Windows XP HOME:

REBOOT into the SAFE MODE to see the "Security" tab.

If you are having Windows XP PRO:

a) Open "My Computer" or any other folder.

b) From the menu select TOOLS > FOLDER OPTIONS.

c) In "Folder Options" select the VIEW tab.

d) Under the "Advanced Settings" UNCHECK the last
tickbox named "Use simple file sharing (Recommended)"

e) Click OK and you're done here!

[ONCE U GET TO THE SECURITY TAB] Then:

[4] Click on the "Advanced" button.
Then go the the "Owner" tab, and SELECT your USERNAME.
It would have the format "UserName (ComputerName\UserName)"

[5] Put a CHECK on the tickbox "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects".

[DO NOT CLICK ON OK YET!]

Well, this should do the trick!
But, just to make sure that everything works out
perfectly YOU MAY ALSO try to do the following:

[6] Click on the "Permissions" tab. Remove all the
entries there and ADD "SYSTEM", "Administrators", and
"[Your UserName]" giving all of them "Full Control".

[7] Then CHECK the 2nd tickbox
"Replace permission entries on all child objects
with entries shown here that apply to child objects".

[8] Now, Click on OK and you're done!

Please Note:

[1] It might take more than a few minutes for all the files
and subfolders inside the "My Documents" folder to get their
ownership and permissions changed. So, do have some patience!!

[2] During the process you might get asked
"if you want to give [Your UserName] Full Permissions"
Click "Yes" and grant "Full Permissions" to [Your UserName].

That's it!
This would definitely do the job.

Let me know if it helps or if you need some more help.

Good luck!
