I have this problem with my WINDOWS XP PROF SP1:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\ system32\config\system
I tried the Solution given in the FEB 2006 issue of DIGIT:
I have tried to use the Recovery Console with my WIN XP PROF sp1 Setup CD.In the recovery console I get C:\> straight away not C:\windows ; And it did not ask for a password or anything as mentioned in the DIGIT solution. when I tried to access the WINDOWS folder by typing the command:
cd windows (cd\windows\system32\config)
All I got was ACCESS DENIED.
Does the fact that I get C:\> instead of C:\windows make a difference?
PLEASE HELP ME!!
