Today as i was attempting to remove my lga775 cpu's HSF,one of its pushpins accidentally broke(please refer to attached image). The broken pin is stuck firmly in the slot now and i cannot detach it from the motherboard-please tell me what i should do now-how will i remove this heatsink?i won't be able to use the pc as long as it remains like this. Will it be possible to reuse this heatsink if i succeed in removing it?Or will i have to get a new one?Any assistance in resolving this issue will be gratefully acknowledged.

(ps-i have an old intel lga 775 heatsink lying around-can i somehow replace the broken pin on my current fan with a good one from the older heatsink?)

Forget about repairing the broken pin but are you sure it is broken & not jammed badly.I suggest to take it to a good computer shop.

i have succeeded in removing the hsf and freeing the broken pin from the mobo after a bit of a struggle-however the leg containing the broken pin has detached from the HSF completely and so a there's a hole at the place where the push pin is supposed to be-i have an old lga 775 cooler lying around that's not in good shape but its push pins appear to be ok-is there any way i can remove one of its pushpins and fit it into this broken heatsink so that it becomes usable again?Or do i need to buy a new cooler altogether?

If i have no choice but to opt for a new cooler, which one should i go for?I prefer using coolers having 4 pin connectors but they are quite difficult to find nowadays. Is this cooler any good?

Deepcool Alta7 CPU Cooler for Lga 1156/1155 and Socket 775 (PC): Amazon.in: Video Games

It appears to have a 3 pin connector-will that affect its cooling performance in the long run?

I have seen pushpin listings, so assuming you can use one from your old/other fan.

BTW, finding LGA775 HSF isn't as tough as you think. In my neighbourhood it costs Rs. 250/-

yeah i know-but are those 3rd party heatsinks(such as those manufactured by like zebronics etc) as good as original intel heatsinks when it comes to cooling?
