Upgrade from GeForce 8800GT

Hi friends,

My beloved XFX GeForce 8800GT Alpha Dog Edition died last week after 4 years of great service. I am looking for a temporary upgrade from my GPU as i will do a total system upgrade on the Intel Ivy Bridge Platform when it hits 2012 (MARCH-APRIL).

My System Specs are:
Amd ATHLON 64 X2 6000+ (Dual Core, 3GHz)
Asus M3A78-EM (AM2+)
Adata 2x2GB DDR2 800Mhz
Seagate 160GB HDD 7200RPM
Samsung B2330H FULL HD LCD (23inch)
Zebronics ZEB600W Platinum (600W)
Cooler Master Centurion 534 (Mid Tower)

I was able to play all the games on 1080p nicely at high settings(Shadow,AA OFF). My mobo as an ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics on it, but it's really bad, i can't even play Batman AA on 640x480 with very high settings. i am really stuck up here and i can't even imagine playing on very low settings on my Full HD monitor. As i can't buy the GeForce 5 series(GTX 560 onwards) which will eventually bottleneck my good old CPU, i have listed several models, some are old though..

Zotac GeForce GTX 260 GDDR3 896MB
XFX Geforce GTS 250 1GB
Asus ENGTS450 DirectCU TOP/DI/1GD5
ENGTX550 Ti DC TOP/DI/1GD5

Please help me pick one of these models and all your valuable suggestions are most welcome, i personally prefer nvidia but amd too is OK. I am currently looking to buy a new one next week.. Sorry for my very long query.
bye.

Get a second Hand card if possible. Your cpu is gonna be a huge bottleneck. Anyways since this is gonna be a temporary card theres no point spending much on it.
Look at this thread in bazaar section.

GT 240 is a little less in performance compared to your current 8800GT but still it should do as a stop gap. You can even look for a better performing used card

but a low-midrange Nvidia GPU & later use it as a PHYSX card with Ivy Bridge. try GT240 as GTS450 is a serious overkill.
