hi ...
thanks for the help but i went for reviews of 8500 n 8600 GT but dont find them so impressive as i found 6600GT when i first bought it... cos in many reviews i found scores of 8500 GT going below what my 6600GT gives me...

they said that these are due to driver issues n will be resolved... whatever be the reason i found them unimpressive... what about 7900GS ...

and pls tell the price of processors... thanks a ton..

will Asus A8NE mobo support X2 4200+
???

Yes A8nE will support X2 4200+ but with BIOS update, I think version 1013 and up supports it. As for gfx card if you don't want to wait then buy 8600GT. Its performance could be compared to 7900GS with added advantage of DX10 compatiblity. But still I would skip 8600GT and rather wait and buy 8800GTS 320MB. Cost would be higher but certailnly worth it.

XFX 8600GT is for 9000 to 10,000 bucks and 8500 GT is for 5,500 to 6000 depending on where you live.

thanks a ton bro...

i am still a bit tensed about A8NE being compatible with 4200+ cos its a great mobo for overclocking... n is very stable... n i have no idea how to upgrade the bios.. i have heard its dangerous too...

as far as gfx card is concerned i dont want to upgrade it riht away... i can wait a bit cos 2GB RAM with 6600GT gives good performance to me...

N frankly speaking while playing FEAR at 1024x768 resolution at medium settings i dont get any problems .... n i dont find any diff while getting 30 fps or 65 fps... all looks same until it drops below 25 fps....

so i can wait for gfx card.. but i need to upgrade processor urgently...

Which BIOS version do you have? I have A8N-E with X2 3800+ (BIOS ver. 1008 ) . To support all of the X2 models you need ver 1010 or later. But it would be little hard to find 939 socket proccy. For BIOS update details *support.asus.com/technicaldocuments/technicaldocuments.aspx?root=198&SLanguage=en-us

oh.. thanks a ton... but are socket 939 processors still available...???

hey... what about e4300 processors from intel core 2dua series....

i heard they overclock like anything n can even beat 4600+ when overclocked with standard heatsink fan combo provided in the box.....

one more thing..... i have 2 Gb of Ram installed in my older comp its DDR 400 Mhz RAM.... i heard that conroe supports only ddr2 Ram... is it true....

Leave E4300, even my X2 3800+ @ 2.6GHz (X2 4800+ is @ 2.4Ghz) can beat 4600+ @ stock any day. As for E4300, its hell of an o'clocker. Have seen people reach 3.2-3.4GHz on stock cooling.
And yes C2D only support DDR2.

i have AMD Athlon 3000+
ASUS A8NE mobo

so what should i do...... i just need a decent upgrade... my mobo can support X2... so buying x2 would be cheap .... i just need a solution to somehow last me a year.... or should i go for E4300... cos changing to to intel means buying a new Bios n RAM also....

If you can get your hand on X2 then surely buy it because if you go for C2D then you have to get the proccy + mobo + RAM. So if you have the budget get a complete overhaul of your system else even a X2 3800+ can sure last more than one year @ stock, then if you need more juice just overclock.
