BSD is Berkeley Software Distribution...got diffrnt versions for fifferent uses..freebsd(which apples mac os too uses see darwin projetc),netbsd for network usage,openbsd for security rather than focusing all these benefits into a single kernel which Linux Kernel does.....And PC-BSD is another recent fork of BSD which claims to be userfriendly but too buggy[AFAIK]...
What do you mean by "linux interface" ? BSD's have nothing to do with linux. The commercial SCO Unix and Solaris can probably be called pure unix's, though I am not sure.
Not quite prakash Pc-Bsd is as solid as BSD as it's based on Free BSD 5.4, it's Free BSD from inside! Except for the pbi thing, it seems to spoon feed too much, much like Next.. Next.. Next cr@ap. Neways we can always configure portages to rock the roost.. using CVSUP
