Reading these forums & going through many dealers I find it extremely disappointing that guys at Nehru place are sitting just to loot the customer with no or little customer service.

They just want you to buy & get off, they have no concept of customer support or service support. They have no or little technical info on what they are selling.

I have been hunting for graphic card to run wide screen 19-22 inch monitor from Viewsonic. I found 3 dealer displaying viewsonic but they just want to sell wont open the box & let me test. About the compatible card they have no clue.................any graphic card will do it should be 256mb ..................I wish that was true.

Ok I wont test but how do I ensure that the monitor is in working condition (without a graphic card 1440x900 that's impossible) They say that they have sold to many customer (bull ****) no one would buy those expensive LCD & run it with a normal graphic card................I know many guys who may need these but none have any info & these guys don't tell me whom they have sold.

Finally 1 dealer understood my issue & considered my requirement as a professional who is concerned about the quality. Today he arranged 4 cards & 19 inch Viewsonic for the demo, I 1st showed them why a normal card wont give them the desired result (they still could not understand much.........till next step)

Next we installed Nvidia geforce card & set the custom resolution to 1440 x 900 & every one's eyes popped out seeing the DVI output & right resolution. Its an extremely efficient LCD right out of the box & offers many menu options, I even mounted it upside down & rotated the screen display upright, they were surprised to see all this.

Now the demo was complete & time to buy, so I asked for the warranty & service support & there you gooooooooo.................... a standard reply, "Company will give 3 years warranty..............ok gud but where is the service centre.............................well they don't know the address......its there........................we will let you know..............................what about buying..........................are you buying now........................................?????????

They want me to buy & yes surely I want & need to buy, but with no clue of service centre & support how can someone think of selling these items to the customer.

Few questions I have
Any address of viewsonic distributor in Delhi & service centre in Delhi if any
How is the service support if any of you have bought viewsonic products.
Do you know any guy/ dealers who have technical understanding & can support.

I feel if I have to buy things box packed getting from abroad is a far better options as online I have better access to their customer support both pre sales & after sales.

Third Eye

gooby pls
Yeah agree with you..the guys in NP are idiots and have only basic knowledge..they don't know the best and i don't accept their offers...they recommended me 7600gt over x1900xtx and proudly say that even a 6600 gt can run all the games... :D morons don't know what a high end card is for.

Thanks for posting that link I forwarded the link of this post to Viewsonic Head office (Taiwan) mentioned on that site & they contacted me within 2 hrs of posting giving me a link about compatible graphic cards *ap.viewsonic.com/in/kbase/article.php?id=8

This is called customer service, today is Eid & a public holiday yet they were concerned that their potential customer could not get the pre sales attention as I should have got, they have taken a note of this & told that customer service support in India is closed due to Eid & gave me the toll free number 1800-11-9999, This made me feels so relaxed & valued too.

Hope the Indians can learn some thing from them. We as customer also need to become more demanding else we will be treated like this only.

With most companies having call centres in India, are you sure that the call you recieved from the "Viewsonic Head office (Taiwan)" wasn't from Bangalore or some other Indian city?

Anyways it's not fair to blame the Indian office because most places remain closed on Eid. Just because Eid isn't a big deal in Taiwan dosen't mean it isn't in India.

You needn't have gone to the effort of contacting Viewsonic for a list of compatible cards. Many people on this forum would have given you that information. Next time you have a query try posting it on this forum first. You'll get your answer a lot quicker than from a customer service department.

Hi Drvarun,
they emailed me, no calls from call centre, before emailing they must have checked & knew that today the service centre is closed in India.

Regarding the 2nd part I posted the query on these forums & you did reply but I could not find what I needed (PCI card with DVI port, capable of 1440x900 resolution) your reply was to upgrade mother board.

This did not fit well as today I could see atlesat 7 cards are available to fit my mobo.............................strange but true we all here discuss mostly about upgrading where as we might not need it at all.

Tomorrow I am thinking of buying the card & the monitor from the same dealer, incidently he found the same info on the viewsonic site & called up in the evening saying that he has finally arranged the card I can come with my comp so he will install it & connect the LCD.

Does anyone have info of a place where I can see Samsung 940BW in action I want to try that too before I buy its looks are better & the response is 4ms , In Nehru place I could not see any samsung showroom, LG has 3 of them.

Did you finally bought the widescreen 19 inch as you mentioned in that old post.

I recommended a mobo upgrade because I wasn't aware of any PCI cards with DVI. I'm surprised they exist.
But good for you that you didn't have to upgrade your mobo.

Finally which PCI card are you buying?

You might also want to try out the Samsung 940BW because as you mentioned it looks better and has a lower response time.

I did try a VA1912WB but it was ridden with dead pixels. So instead I bought a Viewsonic professional series monitor VP720b, 17" DVI and 4ms response time. Best part is that it has no dead pixels at all.

Just make sure that whether you buy the Samsung or Viewsonic, it should not have any dead pixels. Get a demo if possible and take the exact piece you have checked. For the same model, one piece may have no dead pixels and another will have 15 of them.

Many choice available but will go for a card which offers both DVI & analog so I can use the monitor both with Desktop & laptop ( laptop will not show optimum results but will be usable)

Yes I have taken a note of Samsung dealer will call them tomorrow & check the prices & demo.*downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/EM/200609/20060905073730671/EN/main.htm

For that I have downloaded "Monitor test" software which will check all the parameters of a monitor, I am fully prepared.

The solution is to become self aware so you can knock down their suggested products.

Comparasion between samsung & viewsonic can be found here

I bought my Viewsonic VX922 without seeing it, since it was not available ready stock with my dealer. I received it on the third day delivered to me. Absolutely no dead or stuck pixels. Response time is 2ms. Performance in general is very good. (I preferred the standard format and not wide, so there was no Graphic Card/Resolution issue.) BTW I dared to do so since the dealer is known to me for more than a decade.

We cant buy boxed pack LCDs with no Return policy as its available aborad or on amazon.com, they care for customers & value their opinion too. In my case most dealers were wondering why am I asking for a seperate graphic card for this monitor when according to them all graphic cards can work with it.

Viewsonic as a brand is very trusted but the service support is done by Indian guys (HCL guys do for them) thats where I have issues with most companies.

To the dealer I asked what is the stuck pixel policy & he looked at me wondering what does that mean............................he says he has sold 10 of them none ever had any problems.

To do that you'll need to find a dealer who lets you try the monitor before buying.

Sure without which I will never buy a monitor, with which I am going to spend 12-16 hrs a day. Thats why I chucked out 2 dealer from my list.

Broken In
Computer Dealers In Nehru Place are just Wolves Waiting to Swindle Customers of their last paise. They are just plain cheats is my experience. As long as you buy you are welcome the moment you got to them for any hardware replacement they do not even want to recognise you or speak to you and ask you to contact the service centre directly.

They can just be compared akin to Grave Diggers. My Advise for all prospective buyers of computer hardware from nehru place check everything before buying at the shop and before you part your money. Once money changes hands all is ended.

Also Buy things based on the assumption that if it conks off it was pure luck and reconcile to the fact that the loss has been written off or buy only if you have the will, money, time & energy to take the company and dealer to consumer court and nail there ass to the wall.

Do not buy hardware thinking that the service centre will help you out as all company service centres are in a mess with not even proper basic tools to test hardware.

I have been waiting for 2 months to get a replacement of ASUS A8N VM CSM Motherboard which was fried in normal usage but with each day passing my hopes are diminishing.

Hmm.. Just a side note, there is this shop Mass Computer Systems (102 Manjusha Building). The guy there is knowledgeable and knows how to treat his customers well. Try him out next time you face such issues :)
