Hello Friends,
I'm unable to share files between my PC and Laptop using Ethernet.

Desktop Computer
----------------
Windows XP with SP2
2 Ethernet Ports
User Account = Computer Admin.
IP Address = 192.168.1.1
Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0
Defauly Gateway = 192.168.1.10
Preferred DNS Server = ???????? (Blank)
All the Partitions in the Desktop HDD are formatted in NTFS File System.
Computer Name = Desk1

Dell Laptop
-----------
Windows XP with SP2
1 Ethernet Port
User Account = Computer Admin.
IP Address = 192.168.1.2
Subnet Mask = 255.255.255.0
Defauly Gateway = 192.168.1.10
Preferred DNS Server = ???????? (Blank)
All the Partitions in the Laptop HDD are formatted in NTFS File System.
Computer Name = Lap1

I connected both the PCs with Ethernet cable.

I'm able to "ping" from Desktop to Laptop and vice versa.

Both the Desktop and Laptop are in the same workgroup.

I placed the Folder "Test" I want to share in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents

I Tried to access the "Desk1" computer from my Laptop using UNC Path (\\192.168.1.1) and thru the Workgroup as well

A new window appeared as user: Desk1\Guest , Password:

( Guest Account is "ON" in "User Accounts" and in "Local Users and Groups"-->Users-->Guest (I Enabled the "Guest" Account and Set a new pasword) This is done in "Desk1" computer.

Even after giving the correct password I got an Error Message and I'm unable to access the "Desk1" Computer.

I don't know If I've done everything right or wrong or I've missed something that should be done.

Please help me to solve this issue.

Thanx in Advance.

Set IP of first to 192.168.0.1 and the second to 192.168.0.2 and set default gateway to empty. Ensure file sharing is turned on and atleast one folder/printer is shared... If you have WinXP Home Edition, you may not be able to access the computer directly as \\Desk1, but only the shared folder through \\Desk1\Folder1
