ubuntu not connecting to bsnl broadband..

In the zone
i m very new to linux and also to ubuntu..
i live in kolkata ,india..
can not connect to BSNL broadband through ubuntu..
the ifconfig say s the following...

1. Open a Terminal.

2. Type in the command sudo pppoeconf in the terminal and hit enter.

3. Provide the information required by the program.

4. Program will now ask for your username. So type in your BSNL username and click ok.

5.Now the program will ask you for the password. Type in the password in the space provided and click on OK.

6. Program will ask you for some settings. Accept the default values.

Now your BSNL Dataone Broadband connection is configured on Ubuntu Linux.

To connect to internet type the command pon dsl-provider and to disconnect type in the command poff dsl-provider.
