DE JA VU!!!

Boy! I was going to make a similar thread today... I have the same PC config and the similar two-options select screen flicks on while bootup. Even though I removed the bootup screen that I'd installed via StyleXp... the two options are still being shown.

You really freaked me out by this post of yours! :lol:

i had the same problem once. since then i stopd using stylexp for bootskin, but use tune-up utilities 2006 for this purpose. safe and trouble free.

i had tried this :
i opened stylexp. installed the default windows bootskin using it.
rebooted twice. somehow it solved my problem (!)

i had decided to try the latest system restore point, if this had not worked !

hope this wrks or sum1 comes up with a better solution.

Use msconfig to edit boot.ini - you can edit it to show only one entry...

[boot loader]
timeout=20
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /noguiboot /NoExecute=OptIn

under [operating systems] you should have only one entry (in above, "multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)") and that entry should be entered in default...

Preferably set up a system restore point in case anything goes wrong.

If u need the bootscreen option to go away, do explore ur Style XP ;) Its all there ;)

Go here > Style XP > Bootscreens > Reset Kernel file and Reset Boot.ini ;)

If u need the screen, then open ur Boot.ini and remove the line > multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /noguiboot /NoExecute=OptIn

(provided theres the bootscreen line below this ;))
so that u get only the boot screen option and not the non-bootscreen option :p

right click mycomputer. choose properties
goto advanced>startup and recovery>settings
there you remove the boot screen entry.
as simple as that.
works for winxP

it ain't a bug,style xp just creates an alternate kernel in order to minimize the chances of something screwing up.
