all external tuners ...( atleast the ones i know ) connect via the USB port
so all u need is a free usb port on ur lappy ;)
check out pinnacle .. they have a decent solution !

[edit] u can look up specs and prices by a quick search on bazee ;)

I have seen some PCMCIA card based tuners for around rs5000...

They should work better than the USB2 external tuners.

King of my own Castle
A Pixelview USB card i use with my laptop serves me fine...its not too costly as a PCMCIA based tv tuner card..Other thing tough remember,...you need atleast 1 Ghz Processor a 128 Mb ram and usb 2 To get decent frame rates on external USB Tv tuner card.
Hope this helps you

The rs2000 external ones only let you connect a VGA type monitor upto it.
Both the USB and PCMCIA ones are over rs5000.
