Hi,
I have a Transcend TSonic 610 2GB MP3 player which I bought about 4 months ago. It was working fine till I tried to reflash its firmware. The present firmware is 3.4. My problem is that instead of selecting folders in alphabetical order, it selects them in reverse alphabetical order. For eg., if A, B & C are three folders containing MP3s, after playing files in B, it starts playing from A instead of C. But within a folder, it selects the MP3 files in correct order. I tried reflashing, but no use. Has anybody experienced this problem with this player? Please suggest some solution for this.

Could be a problem with the firmware. Try if you can revert to V3.1 firmware

This is the very reason I didn't upgrade my player to V3.4

I tried to flash with the 3.1 firmware. But, after the device is reset by the flashing utility, it fails to detect the device. So, I was left with 3.4.

Man, your are scaring me:-?. I have already reflashed it atleast 6 times. I forgot about one option I had - the CD that came with player. It has a recovery tool. I will try it. I remember that when I bought the player, it had 3.4.xxx firmware. The firmware in their site had the last xxx greater. So, I decided to upgrade to it. I will post back after trying with the firmware in the CD.

This time I really screwed up. I installed 3.3 firmware, but still showed the same problem. Then, I tried 3.1 firmware. I don't know why, the 3.1's utility detected the player and reflashed it. It said that flashing is complete. After that, nothing. Now, the player is not detected by the computer and it doesn't turn on. :(

it'll still be in guarantee period so nothing to worry about. just get it replaced, the guys generally aren't critical about what caused the prob. i once spoilt a sandisk pen drive by removing it unsafely. even though theior guarante clause states that claims in this case won't be entertained, i stii got a replacement in 3 days flat

You've tried the cd which came along with it?
And do you keep the play/pause button pressed while connecting the tsonic to the usb cable?
I'd recommend installing the recovery s/w from the cd,pressing the play button, connecting the usb cable and keeping the play button pressed for a few seconds till it gets detected in recovery mode.

Yeah. It has 2 years warranty, and I bought it only about 4 months ago. The only problem is that right now I am in Bangalore, and I am from Kerala.

I have tried the recovery software from the CD. It had 3.3 firmware version. It flashed correctly, but the initial problem that I mentioned in the first post still existed. So I decided to try 3.1 firmware. Earlier, when I had 3.4 firmware in the player, if I try to flash with 3.1's utility, flashing fails and the player wouldn't boot anymore. Even then, if I connect it to the computer, the player will be detected as Player Recovery Class or some name like that in Device Manager. But this time, 3.1 firmware installed correctly. After that, player is not booting up, and it is not detected by the computer. It seems the player is totally dead. :(

I will try it and will post back about the result. I strongly hope that this will work.

Pls pray for my player.
