Hi,
Got a question that has been bugging me.... what would you do??
Is it better to go for a single gfx card like NVIDIA 7900 gt/ NVIDIA 7900 xt/ ATI x1900 OR two cards say of the lower rung?
Please consider the difference in motherboard prices.
I am considering a INTEL e6300 on a i965 chipset mobo.
Total amt to be spent on cpu + mobo+ gfx card = approx 25-30k.

With this budget you can't even think of SLI. There is point of thinking of SLI if you have at the very minimum abut 20k just on the graphic cards. Else, not much point.

For you I would suggest get AMD 64 non X2 if you are a serious gamer. Try to get a 7900GS then.

Have you gotten a config on the motherboard and processor? The card will cost 17k, and core 2 duo doesn't come that cheap as to fit into your 30k budget. You'll have to increase budget or reduce amount spent on gfx card. :)

Well .. to be very honest , SLi / Crossfire is really that not much necessary until ur gaming at uber high res. of 2048*1536 or above ... u can instead go for a better single card solution ...

Sorry about one thing here... budget is 30-35k for cpu+mobo+vdo card(s).
And seeing the recomdn for amd, according to anandtech, the overclocked e6300 beats even the am2s hands down, so it might make more sense to go for a good cpu+mobo combo and start saving for the 2nd or 3rd gen dx10 cards... what do you guys think??
Any good recomdns for delhi retailers are welcome.

well u should but a single gfx card now. and later when games become more demanding u will have the option to add another one fo the same card in SLI.

I also bought a 6600GT when they were top of the line and i have a ASUS A8N SLI mobo. so now i have an option to either add another 6600GT (which is cheap now) or buy a 7600GT or 7900GT. It sill stays confusing but u have good options.

Right now if i add a 7900GT.. i dont think so that i will be getting any new irresistable technology that justifies it s cost. I can get a big boost in FPS by adding another 6600GT which is cheap too now.

my advice go for a 7 series card and a SLI mobo.
