System Restore error in Vista Ultimate !!!

Conf- Vista ultimate, Core 2 E6400, 1GB DDR2, Intel DG965RY

Guys, I am having a weird problem in Vista ultimate and please dont tell me to reinstall coz I have tried clean installating several times and still the problem does not solve.

Well the problem is that I am able to create restore points on any of my four partitions as well as enable or disable system restore on each of the individual partitions. However, when I click on the system restore option it says plz enable system restore on your pc when it is already enabled.

I have tried reinstalling and trying to enable, disable system restore several times but still the problem is not getting solved.

So, plz someone solve my problem coz its drivin me crazy!!#??

this happend once to me.... and was fixed when i ran a AV scan... it said it was malicious code is the culprit

Well, i thought so, so I had complete reinstall done and tried the system restore as soon as windows was installed but it still did not work.

Neway thx for tryin. I think it will take me numerous tries before i hit upon a solution.
