Suggestions for Gaming rig under 40k + 10k for monitor.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans:This computer will be mostly used for gaming. Games like Metro:Last Light, crysis 3 and Wolfenstein: New Order. It should also be able to play future games like The witcher 3, The Division and Far Cry 4.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans:Rs. 40,000 + 10k for monitor. Can extend 2k more if it results in robust system overall.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: Not necessary.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 8.1.

5. How much hard drive space is needed?

Ans: 1Tb .

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: Yes. It should be 23"-24" 1080p IPS display, with 2 HDMI.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Keyboard and Mouse not required.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?

Ans: Some parts within 2 weeks, and rest in August.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Never assembled it before. Will try to assemble it myself, wanted to do it for a long time.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Buying it locally in Kolkata. Will not buy it online unless its absolutely necessary.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I will be using this PC for the next 5 years.

So far decided on this config..

Processor: Intel Core i5 4440
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B85-D3H
Hard DisK : Western Digital Blue 1Tb (not available here locally, any alternate to this?).
PSU: Seasonic S12G-550W or Corsair GS600 ( or should I go with Antec VP 550W and save some money?).
RAM : Corsair 4gb Value Select.
Cabinet : Corsair Spec 02
GPU : GTX 750ti
Monitor : AOC i2369vm.

Please suggest if I need to make any changes ? I am open to AMD config as well if it will help keep PC competitive for 5 years.

Also, do I need Aftermarket cooler for processor if I am not overclocking? .

Thank you ..

This is way way better for gaming than the other suggested i5 config. 61 for this.

Looks like a pretty solid build. Glad I asked here first before buying anything.

Thanks guys.

Bang for the buck and very good choices. Go for this suggestion. I cannot think of suggesting anything else. :)

This is the way to go but I would suggest spending an extra 2.5k for another stick of that RAM as 4gb just doesn't cut it for me, but as always your mileage may vary.
Also if you store your data in one centralized location(for e.g. A NAS) then get an ssd or if 500 gigs of storage is enough get a 500 gb caviar blue and a 120 gb ssd for optimal performance.

what about
i5 4430 - 11.3k
gigabyte h81m s2pv - 4k

as the main purpose is gaming, intel will offer slightly better gaming experience.

I don't trust the 8320 on a 970 board X.x

Also, the GS600 is not 4.5k anymore. Its atleast 6k everywhere. The Antec VP650p is a great choice at 4.5k though.

I do plan on adding another 4gb RAM later and probably a 64gb SSD as well, but its just that I don't have extra money to spare right now.

The price I am getting here locally for i5 4440 is 10.9k and Gigabyte B85-D3H for 5.4k. Will i5 be future proof for 5 years ?
So, will you recommend i5 4400 over FX 8350 if the price difference is almost negligible?

Can you explain why FX 8320 / FX 8350 might be not a good idea with 970 board ?. I will not be overclocking.
As for Corsair GS600 it is selling here in kolkata for Rs.4950. Though I am planning on getting either Antec VP650p, Seasonic S12II 620W or S12G 550W 80+ gold with 5 year warranty. Which would you recommend ?

Yeah, i5 4440 and Gigabyte B85-D3H are also good. You can consider them too.

cant really mention about future proof for 5 years. but at this budget for gaming, you cant get anything better either ;)

if you can go for seasonic, then do not think twice.

With the fx 8 series, there are 2 temperatures to look at.The socket temperature and the core temperature.
MAx core temperature=64 degrees. Max socket temperature = 70 degrees.
Now you can easily keep the core temperature under control even with a cooler like the Hyper 212x. However, apparently the socket temperature depends on the quality of the motherboard's VRM and its ability to keep the VRM's cool. Also, the 990x series has slightly better power phase I believe than the 970 series. This is more significant when you overclock the processor. Also you get more sata ports and usb 3 ports.

With my M5a99x evo, my 8320 at 4Ghz reaches 56 on core temperature after a 2 hour prime95 test. And socket reaches 67.

If you decide to go with a 970 board, the Asus M5a97 evo r2.0 is a good choice for mild overclocking. And you should have no issues with this board if you do not overclock at all.
Going with intel is a good option too btw. You could easily opt for an i5 4570/4670 with an H87 board and it will perform really well with an R9 270x. And you would get lower electricity bills too :D

Oh and regarding power supply, the seasonic one is great. The antec is good too. I use the GS600 and its pretty awesome too. Never had any problems. Got to love corsair's replacement warranty. I blew up my first psu running furmark, they replaced it with a new unit in 5 days lol. :p

Yeah was thinking the same thing. FX 8320 will use more power and generate more heat while not giving me any extra performance over i5 4440 in gaming ( atleast not in coming 2 years, probably when most games start using 8 cores ). AMD FX series will be useful to those who will it for encoding or editing. For gaming I think strong are better.

Partially right but GTX 750ti is weaker compared to R9 270 (even R7 265 for that matter) + these both processors pack power to play smoothly with much powerful GPU's so there are no fears of bottlenecking as you fear. So ASHISH65's rig seems a lot better to me.

And dude power is a lame thing you will hardly save about 200-300 bucks of electricity bill yearly by using i5 so that's no point at all.

Increase post count IMO.. :-D

If you want an Intel config at least stick with 270X. 750ti is far behind 270X.

Some modifications-

Initially I was thinking of getting 750Ti now and use it until R9 370X or GTX 860 comes out. But since everyone here is not recommending anything below 270X, guess I'll go with 270X and use it longer.

My final Config:

Processor: Core i5 4440
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B85-D3H
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 4gb
PSU : Seasonic S12II 620W
Hard Disk: WD Blue 1Tb.
Cabinet: Corsair Spec 02
GPU: ASUS R9 270X
Monitor : AOC i2369VM ( Dell has glossy screen, so will go with AOC's matte screen)

Looks like I have gone over my budget. Hope its a good build and will provide me decent gaming experience.
