Suggest OS for 1GB RAM Office Laptop

My brother using laptop which he got from his office. Actually they give laptops to other after retirement or I don't know much. This laptop running on 1gb RAM on Windows 7 Professional OS 32 bit/x86.
There are many softwares will be useful for office are in laptop installed already. These are those softwares SAP Business Explorer, SAP GUI, SAP JNet, Engineering Client Viewer etc etc many more.
This software should run on new OS you're suggesting.
I am downloading windows 7 x64, windows 8.1 x64, windows 10 x64.
Please tell me other than these OS works well with these office softwares.
Any OS but should run on 1gb or less RAM.

And I am downloading x64 because on my computer I use x64 version.
One question, x64 use more storage and RAM compared to x86??

May be you can try Lubuntu. Don't know about software most of them should or you may find some alternatives!?

Buddy it's office laptop, you shouldn't bother to invest in office lappy from your own pocket. And office may offer new lappy but it's not the time to request. So for better surfing and torrent downloading I need good OS.

Will windows 10 Redstone work on 1gb ram??

Windows official requirements say 1gb ram for 32bit and for 64bit you need minimum 2gb...it will work but you wont be able to get good performance.

If it's office laptop, you're not supposed to do any modifications to both the hardware and the software. Better to ask the office for a ram upgrade without paying anything from your pocket.

Okay, i will ask my brother for that matter. It's his office laptop.

What about drive storage comparison??
Not c drive size, ms office size on x86 compare to x64 after installation.
Not Good performance on both, windows 10 32 & 64 bit??

You can install windows Xp or win 8.1. Windows 10 need more RAMs due to built in apps.

But I will use local account in win 10 so no apps required. So will it work fine with local account??

how about cortana running in background all the time. Apart from that, it start downloading all those music, notes, bla bla as soon as it connects to internet without telling you. I forgot all the app names now. By seeing with the config like 1Gb ram, i don't suppose OP have heavy usage, I would say go with Linux distros instead of Win10. WinXP is good option but the old look ...

Yeah but there are not too much pre installed apps, and i can manage that app usage i already tried that with windows 8.1.
I will try windows 10 let's see. My problem was I can install windows 10 or not.
My usage will be Firefox, torrent and IDM.

Status -- Still downloading windows....

Pre installed apps means that start menu stuff on Windows 8.1.
Windows apps mail, calender, clock, calculator, Xbox store, weather, map, photos, people, etc etc.
There are many more on Windows 10 and new update Redstone have many more i guess.

No heavy usage, i searched online i found many os running below 1gb ram, mainly are Linux. And found some Android os also.
I added to download list.
Windows comes handy, and i tired Ubuntu os only. So i need to prioritise OS.

So just suggest me name and version of OS and link for download. That will be helpful.

why not ubuntu then, on official website they say 1GB is recommended and 512MB is minimum requirement for it. I have used Ubuntu and Fedora but never thought about them in this RAM context so I can't really suggest which particular distros to use. advise from Linux users will be much better. @Desmond David , @gameranand , @Hrishi , @ico I think they use Linux or have good knowledge apart from the people who have already commented here(not counting myself). unable to recall any other member using Linux ...
Also, one clarification is needed, The SAP softwares you mentioned in the 1st post, must work on the OS you choose??

If its an office laptop, why are you installing OS in it? The office facilities dept will be responsible for installing the OS using the volume licenses the company purchased.
