Suggest new PC config for my uncle??

Guys, i need your help to suggest PC config for these features:

• Hi-Speed
• Trouble Free Operation
• Upgradable features
• Latest s/w
• Docs, Spreadsheets, PPT, Email, Web-Surfing, Chatting
• No games

He needs to do web-designing. He said he may do it in JSP or PHP. Pls suggest a good config.

WOW lot of budget. For those needs, a PIV 3GHZ with 1GBRAM and 80GBHDD would cost around 17k

Dude make a list of items with their costs. All good company h/w should be used. Like for HDD: Segate.

AM2 X2 4200+ costs 5000Rs,

ASUS M2A VM mobo 4800Rs,

RAM 1GB DDR2 667Mhz 1800Rs,

HDD 250GB seagate 3100Rs,

monitor 17" LCD (non widescreen)8500Rs,

Zebronics pure platinum with 500 watt smps 2400Rs,

altec lansing 2.1 speakers 1000Rs,

lite on 20X dvd writer 1700Rs,

i ball power key keyboard 600Rs,

microsoft mouse 400Rs,

Total :- 29.5K approx,


now Intel config:-

Intel E4300 costs 5000Rs,

ASUS 650i ultra 5500Rs,

rest of the config as it is

so total:- 30K approx,


( BTw i have edited the config from 2 GB ram to 1GB cause i forgot to ADD DVD writer, anyways still a better config, my advice plz add a 2K for the extra 1 GIG ram for GR8 performance)

Go with the Config saggy have suggested,thats the best u can get for 30k,instead of Iball keyboard get urself a Logitech or Microsoft bundled MM KB and optical mouse for 800-900 bucks.Cheers

it will bottleneck the system , not worth a buy for C2D

the one i have mentioned is way better than 965 ,

& 400 watt cabinet is not good enough to handle the system , it should be atleast 500watt,

intel counterparts are not good enough as compared to the n force chipset based mobo's ,
also taking into consideration if he wants to upgrade the processor,
the nforce chipset with 1333MHz max fsb would be any day better than the intel mobo,

He is ready to use linux as it will reduce the cost about 4-5k. Also he doesn't need such hi-fi config. Only Intel and not more than 80 GB HDD.

I said na linux is ok for him. I told him that if you use linux, it is much faster and most important trouble free. OOO is the replacement for MS-Office in Linux. OOO can be download from their site. you guys don't worry about MS office and OS. Just tell me the config. MS-OFFICE will cost him Rs 100 (pirated) and 1k (approx.) (original). OOO is totally free and i am here to download it.
