Suggest: Monitor & GPU

Hi All,

Firstly I want to thank all you guys & guys on CHIP forum for all their suggestions that helped me to build my new system with following config:

AMD Phenom II X4 955
Gigabyte 880G-UD3H
Corsair 1333Mhz 2X2 GB
FSP SagaII 500W
CM 430

The above config cost me 19.2k, now in my 2nd phase of upgrade I want to upgrade my Monitor & GPU, currently have 15" CRT and 9500gt. I want to play latest games at decent setting with smooth FPS (may not be maxed out) and want them to be futur proof for 2-3 years. I was thinking of buying 20" LED monitor and something like HD 5770.

The budget is ~7k for Monitor and 8 to 9k for GPU.

Thanks!

^^ ok, How is AOC as a brand? Design wise they look quite impressive & sleek. But don't know about their performance.

Also, at the resolution for a 20" monitor (1600X900) won't a HD 5770 sufficient enough to play latest games at good FPS?

AOC is good IMHO
but availability and after sale service is a doubt for me

5770 will be enough for 1600x900
but its better to be future proof

Hey saz, if can you stretch your budget for the monitor by 1.7k, you can get:

Dell ST2220L - 21.5” WS FHD Monitor with LED - Rs. 8,750.00
Connectivity Options: VGA, DVI-D (HDCP), HDMI

Link: Dell ST2220L 21.5"￾ W Full HD Monitor with LED

Here's the review for ST2220L by our Jas:

OR

Benq G2222HDL - 21.5” WS FHD Monitor with LED - Rs. 7k
Connectivity Options: VGA, DVI-D, no HDMI

and don't go for AOC, very bad exp.

^^ Ok point taken...AOC now out of consideration. Actually can't extend budget :( ...because my original budget was 15k for both Monitor and GPU. Now since I am considering HD 6850 my total budget has increased to 17k.

Well my friend has a really good experience with AOC. Customer care didn't troubled him at all. Well I agree that Dell also has goos customer service but AOC is not bad either.

@All

If you guys have bad exp with AOC, then please mention in which aspect you are saying that, in CC or Product. AFAIK AOC is a good brand too and i bought a 19" monitor few years back and till today it's working fine in my home. So please be specific before suggest not to go for a brand.

I also have AOC 18.5" since last 8 months. No problems whatsoever, and the monitor is very sleek and slim.

The monitor mentioned by desiibond is probably the best in 8k price point-

Benq G2220HD: 7.2k

For GPU get a Sapphire HD 5770 @ 7.2 k
