One of my friends is looking for a 50k lappie... he wants the best price/performance/features ratio....
I suggested him the HP series... as they are good in the features & class category. I even saw one... the HP Pavilion dv9502.
For 48k.. u get Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium, AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-56 @ 1.80 GHz, Level 2 cache 512 KB + 512 KB, Up to 1600 MHz system bus running at AC/DC mode 35 Watt , 2*512MB DDR2 RAM @ 667 MHz, 160 GB SATA Hard Disk Drive @ 5400rpm, Lightscribe Super Multi DVD Writer (+/-R +/-RW) with Double Layer support, 17" WXGA+ High Definition HP BrightView Widescreen, NVIDIA GeForce 7150M with up to 287 MB total available video graphics memory, 5-in-1 integrated Digital Media Reader for Secure Digital cards, MultiMedia cards, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, or xD Picture cards, Bluetooth wireless networking, Wireless LAN 802.11a/b/g

The HP laptop series...

My concern is the processor & the graphics unit... How r they? Gaming... multitasking... Any better suggestions for the same price range... The + I see is a huge screen with reasonably good clarity (although not as good as my UltraBrightView 17" screen :D)

He's new to computing & is just a beginner... & wants no jhanjhat... he doesnt want to struggle with a new-laptop-in-problems.

the onboard nvidia gpu is good for low end gaming.. Also try to increase the ram to 2*1gb and getting a smaller screen size.. As for the tl 56, make sure u get the 65nm one.. Rest all seems good..

he's into 50k budget... the lower the better. I adviced this for flaunt value @ least cost... 1GB is more than enuf for a noobie... gamin too'll b considerably good... considering the fact that he'll not go for real-costly games & that he won't tweak with the default settings. What about the processor... is it @least better than Duo Core(not Core2Duo)?

Other options...
