Moto E is for those who are switching from a feature phone to smartphones or need a 2nd android (very basic) apart from their high end phones.

Moto E Pros over Xperia M:
1. Display 540 x 960 pixels, 4.3 inches (~256 ppi pixel density)
2. Corning Gorilla Glass 3
3. KitKat v4.4.2
4. 1980 mAh battery

Xperia M pros over Moto E:
1. autofocus, LED flash, front cam
2. Dual-core 1 GHz Krait
3. Adreno 305
4. NFC

instead of Xperia M, i'd recommend you to get Moto G.

^Nokia X, X+, XL are crap compared to Moto E. Going with your primary usage, increase your budget and get Moto G as suggested earlier :)

I own a Xperia M, i too wd recommend getting the Moto G, for almost the same price

Xperia M can be had for Rs 11,000
Moto G is stuck at Rs 12,500 and 13,900 since launch.
The price difference in quiet negligible but performance is difference is huge, specially the camera.

I made a camera quality comparison review of my older Xperia M and current Moto G here in think digit.. look it up, must be buried somewhere. In case you are lazy too search it up-- Xperia M camera suckss balzzz

Moto G pros over Moto E:

1. Display 720 x 1280 pixels, 4.5 inches (~326 ppi pixel density)
2. Internal storage 8/16 GB
3. 1 GB RAM
4. autofocus, LED flash, front cam
5. Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7
6. USB OTG

Moto E pros over Moto G:
1. Micro SD card slot ( but then again Moto G got this covered due to USB OTG)
