hi guys
i am just a neebie in computers and i wanted to know the reason for using screan saver.
here is what i think about it.
only u can say its correct or not!

since the display unit is made up of phosphorous and the colours we see r due to the continuous splitting up of electrons from the gun , the splitting up of same color of electron from the gun on a particluar point on the display unit will make the area to be burnt .

is this right

The burn-in doesn't really occur in modern CRTs. You can safely keep them on for hours without anything happening to them. Of course, screen savers can be used for fun.

@kerthivasan: You are quite right actually. Its for the prevention of phosphor burn-in in that the screen saver was first designed. Modern CRT monitors are less prone to such burns as they come with a better coating on the screen to prevent this from happenin. LCDs dont face a burn-in probem at all.
