Need only CPU upgrade, but am filling questionnaire anyway.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')

Ans: General use - MS Office, Some light image editing (PS Elements/Paint .net etc), some gaming (Diablo III, Elite Dangerous and the like), browsing, audio transcoding (recording vinyl/tape to wav/flac/mp3)

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: ~20000/-

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 10+Linux

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: Already have 240GB SSD + 1TB WD Black

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans:Not required. Have Samsung 21"

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Components like HDD, cabinet, graphics card, keyb, mouse, speakers etc will be reused. (RX 580/16GBRAM/Keyb/Mouse/Speakers already present)

Upgrading only CPU and if necessary, cooler

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: within 2 weeks

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Will be doing it myself. Have built several before.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Kerala. Prefer Primeabgb/Mdcomputers/Amazon. Local shops mark-up is too high

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans:Cousin's system, upgrading CPU. Have seen offer for Ryzen 5 3500 on Amazon. 3500 is supposedly OEM only but full box version on sale? link below

Don't get either of these. Get Ryzen 5 3600 and use it with stock cooler. If your current ssd is dram less, consider getting MX500 or Intel 660p 512 GB.
